Hidden treasure!

4 of 5
This was one of my best vacations. For my family, it was a local vacation but I don't remember ever being so relaxed. The location is so peaceful. I would recommend this adventrue to anyone. Lot's fresh air, biking, swimming, laying in the hammock with not a care in the world. The house is very comfortable and kid friendly. It was so good we are doing it again this year!

Lovely long weekend

5 of 5
The Carriage House was the perfect place to spend a long weekend. It was exactly as described in the listing, only better! It was immaculate and welcoming and we felt at home within minutes of arriving. We chose this place because of its central location for visiting with our children from CT and MA; and visiting a granddaughter for her birthday. Plus friends from Plymouth met us in Bellingham for a meal; and we shopped at The Shoppes at Blackstone Valley. It was so much better than staying in a hotel and we plan to stay here again. The kitchen was stocked with everything that we needed for utensils, pots and pans, dishes, etc. The unit was heated with both electric and heat pump; plus the gas fireplace, and we were comfortably warm with just the heat pump. There was a snowstorm during our visit and the owner, who lives on the property, was prompt about snow removal. Also, this was a very spur of the moment decision for us and Debi was quick to respond and courteous about the hasty arrangements. The only suggestion I would make is that the absolutely beautiful king-size bed in one of the bedrooms is high off the floor and being a short lady, I had a bit of a hard time getting in the bed. A small step would be helpful. (I know we could have stayed in the queen bed, which was lower, but the king bed was so luxurious!) Thank you Mark and Debi for this very well maintained, luxury carriage house.

Perfect family spot for family

5 of 5
"Mommy -- its a kitchen living room" exclaimed my 4 year old and we entered the main living space. An extended kitchen counter abuts the combined dining/living area, with view stunning lake views. But what I liked best was that I could see the kids playing in the beach/dock area from the main living space and outside deck. I could thus be connected with multiple aspects of the family at the same time. I appreciated the three 'upstairs' bedrooms (main floor) adjacent to each other; and then the downstairs extra room (also game room) in the finished basement. The lovely thing about the finished basement was that it opened onto a patio sitting area, that also faced the lake. We had a lot of fun with the paddle boat (good for young kids); didn't get around to using the other boats but look to doing that on another trip. I also liked how many toys and games were available for children, both inside toys, and beach toys. Plus there were bikes! And finally -- easy hikes / walks at the nearby Quabbin reservoir. I sent this note to a friend: "The reservoir is huge and breathtaking. Fun trails crossing the many little streams that feed the dammed basin. Lot of discussion with the kids about how we can't swim in it because it is drinking water -- the boys then proceeded to lap the water kitty-style, pronouncing it delicious. That and dozen more funny moments."
