Truly, a Home Away from Home

          5 of 5
We traveled to Boston during Christmas with three generations -- grandparents, parents, and two children. What a perfect launching pad for seeing the entire city! The #39 bus leaves from a stop just two blocks away, taking us straight to the green line on the "T," and from there of course the entire city is simple to visit. If you prefer a car (though in Boston, you've got to really LOVE your car), the Jamaicaway is just down the block, so you can quickly get anywhere you need to go. The home itself is just charming. Although the bedroom with an "interior window" might cause problems for truly light sleepers who are staying with loud talkers -- you know who you are -- for us it was just another fun architectural touch in a well-thought-out gem of a house. The living room, office, and den offer plenty of space to spread out but also wonderful gathering space to bring the family together. Furnishings are sophisticated and comfortable. We made full Christmas dinner for six in the well-appointed kitchen with ease. In short, we felt completely at home. I would also like to add that while we were staying at this home, the water heater unfortunately broke down, but the owner immediately found a plumber (on Christmas Eve, no less) who fixed the problem. These things happen... but the owner was gracious and accessible, which is really what one hopes for in a host.

          Memorable Stay

          5 of 5
Dave & Daryl have made our stay wonderful and memorable. The location, amenities are good. It's quiet and enjoyable. Dave is very helpful - provides all details and maps for us, while breakfast prepared by Daryl is awesome! I look forward to the breakfast every morning. Thanks to both for being a wonderful host!

          Great Stay

          5 of 5
My husband(who was running in the 2011 Boston Marathon) and I rented this apartment for 7 nights. We thought it would be a good idea to have a place with a kitchen so he could eat what he needed/wanted for his running adventure. The owner of this apartment, could not be nicer. He was quick to respond to my emails and was very helpful once we arrived. The "summer cottage" (read mansion) next door is Taylor House B & B that he also owns. When renting this apartment, breakfast is included at the B & B.-- a variety of continental breakfast, help yourself cereals, juice, pastry, toast, yogurt, and a daily special. We had friends meeting us in Boston and they were also hosted for breakfast one morning, at no charge. What a generous touch! The apartment was very clean with one small exception, the bathtub. It just needs a very good scrubbing. Everything else was very neat, very clean! This apartment is at half basement level. Stairs must be climbed to leave the apartment. Very roomy, well lit, sufficient furniture, comfortable bed, well stocked kitchen utensils. And a washer/dryer located across the hall. We ate at three restaurants within walking distance on Centre Street: Galway House (OK, large portions, bar with tv's), JP Seafood(Asian, very good stir fry), Real Deal (hamburgers, very good). A wonderful Italian restaurant, in Belmont, is Il Casale. Public transportation from this lovely area(Jamaica Plain) is a bit slow. Although it is located only about 4 miles from downtown and the bus is close to the apartment, the buses stop, it seems, at every block. We miscalculated how long it took to get to our destinations-- typically by 100%. Still, Jamaica Plain is a beautiful and safe area to stay. The neighorhood is filled with gorgeous, huge, old mansions. There is a beautiful pond one block away, with a 1 1/2 mile running/walking trail circling the pond. We would highly recommend this apartment to friends and family. We were very happy with our stay.
