Perfect location to feel far far away yet so close

5 of 5
Glenna was the perfect host. Her home was ready and set for our family with four kids...mostly teenagers to hang out. Her home is very well loved and taken care of and was very clean. We had everything we needed from towels to bedding to kitchen necessity's. The views from her porch were beautiful although it was too cold for us to really sit out as per the season, but we enjoyed them anyway. The location is what was really ideal-even with all the snow that arrived as we did, the streets up on the hill were cleared and it was very easy for us to be in Great Barrington in minutes. If it was the summer we would have walked! Yet, we were very isolated and the property felt very private. It was very quiet which is what we needed. My kids all had laptops which they were on continuously with the wifi in the house-there was no TV but we were absolutely fine with that for our weekend away was to be away! Glenna was easily accessible when we reached out to her with questions. I highly recommend her sweet country home for when you want to just get away from it all yet being so close to town, skiing (hiking and everything else in summer!).

Gorgeous views, super comfortable, lovely area!

5 of 5
We LOVED this house, and a snowstorm during our stay only made it more magical! The owner really has thought about the renter in SO many ways: the kitchen is awesome; there are ample surfaces for belongings in the bedrooms and bathrooms (we've rented homes where we lived out of our suitcases and cosmetic bags, only having a surface big enough for a toothbrush to place our things, but when renting this house, it was evident that the owner thought this through); the view is amazing (!!), and there is a high-end grill and lovely deck; multiple shoe trays were a huge help in the snow; the animals are a wonderful addition/entertainment; the game room and TV room provide something for everyone, and although we enjoyed them both, we spent most of the time either on the yellow couch or in the kitchen, marveling at the breathtaking view and sunsets! The owner's kindness regarding us renting with 2 larger dogs is super appreciated; it is a gift when someone with such a special property allows them! We all loved Shelburne Falls too-- we made it there 3 or 4 times and had great food and fun (McCusker's Market was amazing)! We can't say enough about our wonderful visit! The owner, Karen was super easy and professional to work with and also super responsive regarding any questions (and even though out of town during our stay, arranged anything we needed). The property was very clean and well-maintained. It is rural so expect to use your car for supplies and outings, but the property provides much entertainment (including hiking) without leaving. We would recommend this property to a friend or relative. Thanks Karen!

family gathering

5 of 5
Very spacious home and more patios than we needed. The main patio and kitchen area were well used for a family gathering of 7. We had everything we needed. The grounds have a lot of landscaped nooks and crannies for exploring and tons of privacy. The couple was very welcoming and helpful. I especially liked the upstairs lounge and vined railing. It's convenient to area attractions and I especially liked the botanical gardens and enjoyed the grounds of this house for it's numerous gardens. Lots of books are available inside and I added 2 more for the library. Although the weather was fair and we were outside, indoor enclosed porches would have been comfortable to use. Chipmunks and Jays scold you in the morning for sitting and having coffee and make you laugh. The Norman Rockwell Museum and downtown Stockton are nearby. Lunch at the Red Lion Inn was a great experience. Check out the lounges for their antiques on display. Very close to the Mass Pike, I would stay again to explore more attractions in the Berkshires there wasn't time for.
