Quite nice

4 of 5
I'm just writing this review to state that a number of issues raised by the previous reviewer were corrected by the time of my early August stay. The furniture in the cabin is quite worn, but in general it met the expectations I had considering the price and the fact it's a cabin out in the woods. The issues we did have were primarily with the wi-fi which worked VERY rarely. It was a fairly major pain, especially as cell coverage is very spotty in the area. Thankfully, prior to our arrival, I had written down addresses of places we wanted to visit so our car GPS picked up the slack. Without those addresses the lack of internet would have been a real problem rather than just a nuisance. An exterior motion sensor light recommended by the previous reviewer is spot on. Also, as a note, use Google's directions to the address. Our car GPS lead us astray up a neighboring set of gravel trails which was very unfortunate considering it was pitch black and a narrow and winding unpaved road. If others have had problems in the past then maybe the owner could begin circulating directions from the main road to the cabin prior to check-in. In general, the cabin is a very nice, large space, as is the yard. The basement still had a dank smell while we stayed, but it wasn't too bad (no boat in the garage so I'm guessing that was moved out and helped with the fumes the previous commenter noted). One guest did kill a very large roach in the basement so a pest treatment might be in order, but in general the bug issue was minor (an odd spider or moth here and there) considering the setting. 4/5 stars; would recommend.

Fabulous setting, accommodations and experience!

5 of 5
The property is gorgeous with a well-appointed home and spacious back yard complete with private dock on Deep Creek Lake. The pics don't do it justice. Just a short walk to Bill's to rent a pontoon, which we used to drag the kids thru the lake on a big tube. (What fun!) We arranged with Wisp to deliver (and later, pick up) kayaks and a paddle board for our stay. So nice to go out on the lake whenever we wanted. We fished off the floating dock with varied success (got minnows from Bill's just down the street). Hung out in the adirondack chairs and enjoyed the beautiful views. We cooked meals at the house (grill on wraparound deck) or ordered in from Brenda's Pizza (a nice change from NJ pies). Remember to bring condiments! Nearby food store and Arrowhead Market, liquor store and just about anything you might need is close by. Movie theatre just minutes away. The dogs loved running around the property, hanging on the dock and getting in the lake. The house was clean upon arrival with good-quality linens; so nice not to have to pack sheets and towels. (Wish the spare pillows had pillow cases on them.) Plenty of room for six adults and two large dogs. Loved having two dishwashers and a separate living area/kitchen area downstairs. John was a pleasure to work with, and we were so pleased to be able to bring our well-mannered dogs with us. The money we saved on boarding them allowed us to spend more on the rental than we otherwise could have, so it all worked out in the end. Highly recommend this property and look forward to our return.
