Beautiful just outside DC

5 of 5
This was our first trip to DC as a family. We decided to stay at Wyndham National Harbor Resort because of the kitchen and second bathroom...both a must when traveling with 3 boys. The suite was large enough that we weren't tripping over each other the entire stay. Our friends (with 2 children) were staying at another nearby luxury hotel and really could have used some of the extra space we had. The kitchen was well appointed with everything we needed to make breakfast daily, pack lunches, and even prepare dinner. I would suggest grocery shopping before getting to National Harbor. The only grocery store is convenient to walk to but very overpriced. One of my favorite things was the complimentary shuttle that took us to/from the DC Metro station. The shuttle stop was a short walk from the resort and ran pretty much all day. This saved us from having to drive into DC or pay a cab/bus fee. We parked our car in the garage and didn't drive it until we left to come home. The only thing I was really disappointed in was the linen situation in the resort. 1) The sofa bed did not have sheets or a blanket. When we called to request those items we were given sheets that were too small to fit and no blanket. 2) We had 5 people staying in the room for 6 days and the towels/washcloths could only be exchanged once. Any exchange after that we would be charged. 3) When we visited the pool we tried to locate towels and none of the staff seemed to know where to find pool towels. Overall, I would recommend this property to others.

Clean, bright, contemporary condo

5 of 5
This 8th floor condo has a large sliding glass door to a balcony with a view of the Potomac River, Old Town Alexandria and daily gorgeous sunsets. Sitting at our dining table nightly we would take in the view and enjoy the comfortable feel of the apartment. The galley kitchen enabled us to easily prepare meals, and we ate in regularly, while the location in National Harbor allowed us the benefit of great restaurants on both sides of the river as we took the water taxi back and forth to Old Town and up to Georgetown. We parked our car in a designated spot in the secure garage (also where we stored our bike) and daily walked and biked the Harbor paths and got to kayak on the Potomac and ride the new Capitol Wheel. The unit contained all the essentials we needed (we bought our own blender), and the living room, bedroom, bathroom and closet were good sized so we were comfortable. The unit is located at the end of the hall in the southwest corner of the building so there was no hallway or elevator noise. The few residents we met were very nice and friendly and the building manager was gracious and very welcoming. The building is kept in very good shape and there was an online access page that provided updates on Harbor events. There were weekly concerts on the Harbor plaza and we even saw Cirque du Soleil at the Harbor plateau - we found the Harbor to be a fun, lively neighborhood. Weekends were sometimes too noisy for our liking. Kevin was great to work with - easy going. He was available when we needed him - just a phone call away. No hassles - very accommodating. Easy check-in, check out, billing etc. everything was taken care of. We had a great time exploring Wash DC, Baltimore, Annapolis, Mt Vernon etc - all that the Capitol city had to offer - easy access to the highway. We were bummed that we missed the newest addition to the Harbor area - MGM Grand casino, but we promised ourselves to return when they open their doors in 2015. And we would definitely stay in the condo again - the first time was a great experience!

Fantastic!

5 of 5
Great location, great amenities, comfortable condo. The beds were super comfy (we joked we'd love to smuggle them home!), well appointed kitchen. We enjoyed the pools and game room and loved walking around National Harbor. Everyone was super nice and very friendly, always greeting us as we left and returned from our adventures. And even though there was always lots going on, it was very quiet at bed time. We would definitely stay again!
