A fantastic property that more than lived up to its billing!

5 of 5
This was without doubt the loveliest, well-equipped and most comfortable home we have stayed in as a family. 5 large bedrooms meant everyone had a room, the bathrooms and kitchen were really clean and well equipped and the 2 lounges provided large, comfortable living space for our party of 7. There were even London radio stations to make us Brits feel at home! And the garden was very attractive and secluded with a big barbeque and plenty of outdoor seating at the table which we put to good use! The property was also ideally located for the touring that we had in mind, with Washington DC, Harpers Ferry, Gettysburg and Amish country all within a reasonable drive and very much worth the visit. We also enjoyed the local nature trail, with close sightings of deer and a snake in a lovely wooded area. There were good supermarkets locally for food etc, so everything was taken care of. The only thing I'd have done differently is to have stayed a few days longer than the 5 that we did because the property was so welcoming, especially after a long day's touring. A real home-from-home that I would thoroughly recommend.

Excellent time with family

5 of 5
The house was exceptionally clean and very comfortable. We loved every single minute we spent in the house. We had about 6 people in our group including my parents and we just had a swell time. The grocery store was just around the corner. The train station was a short ride so getting in and out of DC was very easy. The house looks just like the pictures. I was laid out very nicely. We would definitely stay here again.

Relaxing and wonderful

5 of 5
We knew that the home would be unique. We didn't know how much we were going to love it! The whole atmosphere was peaceful. My Mother did not want to leave for anything. Dinners with family and sightseeing didn't interest her. She just wanted to stay here. The birds would come to sing to us on the deck. Hummingbirds at the honeysuckle bush. The view out the back window was amazing. Day and night. The night view was a real delight. The nature trail was fun. Little toads were hopping about. I couldn't believe how tall the trees are. Our first trip was to the National Colonial Farm. It was so close. Not to be missed. The view of Mt Vernon was great from the pier. The interpreters at the park were friendly and very knowledgeable. Happy pigs and sheep. We also went to the National Harbor. What a great place. The Ferris wheel is quite the sight. I couldn't get anyone to go with me. I enjoyed the shopping and people watching. Also a farm market. The peaches were yummy. MGM is in the process of building there. That will just add to the sights. Our host Tony was very easy to reach and did a great job with suggestions for our trip. He has a notebook that explained all of the information on the house. It was well organized and helpful. The house had all the amenities that we needed. It was very clean and well kept. Loved the kitchen and the living room. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. It was interesting to see the history of the house. Overall we were very impressed and would highly recommend Tony and the Light catcher Retreat.
