It’s not very often that a Vacation Home Rental is way above your expectations, however Tide’s Edge offered so much that we kept rejoicing that we had found the place. We’ll specifically, our 17 year old daughter, who reminded me “Mom, remember when I told you to come and see the pictures of this place on my laptop…” Indeed, she deserves the credit. I took more pictures and marveled at the beauty of the area. I see why people stay longer than a week, I could have permanently moved in.
We didn’t know of the great, nearby town of Portland, and the old scenic historical part of town before. Since we live in Michigan, we’re not used to seeing architectural, ancient buildings. Bull Fenny’s was about a 300 year old Irish Pub. The sea food is so fresh, tasty and served hot, perfect. The woodwork ornately carved; a feast to the eyes. Every shop owner was so kind, it was ideal. When the nose piece fell off my glasses, I wondered how/where/what to do, and our daughters located an eyeglass place while they shopped separately…it’s so safe. So my husband and I walked over to Optical Expressions at 87 Exchange St. and were welcomed warmly and received a free new set of nose pieces.
Tide’s Edge is the perfect calm place, in the perfect setting. I didn’t know such a quiet street existed. I think the birds make it their mission to sing melodiously to fill the silence. Comical seagulls are creating a four foot circle clam island, with each low tide, they arrive and drop a few more clam shells. It’s a great place to slow down, enjoy wonderful lobster, read a great book, dream…and later, share the memories with your friends over and over again. Thank you so much Joi and Lee!
