Gull Cottage is truly spectacular for anyone looking to experience a coastal Maine vacation! The cottage is perfect (all as described and presented by the owner, very clean, tidy/ well-equipped, etc. and the owner is very easy to work with), but nothing prepares you for the unbelievable long-coastal views that the house offers (including seals!). Words cannot adequately describe how breathe-taking the view is from the family room/dining area/kitchen, etc. Very easy to relax with these surroundings. In the guestbook, one guest had written "the way life should be." I think that sums it up here at Gull Cottage and on Westport Island. Once you leave the cottage, easy drives to Wiscasset, Bath, Boothbay, Camden, Popham Beach, and Reid State Park, and lots more for beach time, boating, sightseeing, cute towns, etc. If you like seafood, you're in for a real treat! We will be returning.

The home, views, and yard are much lovelier than the photographs. We (a group of ten ranging in age from almost three years old to 98 years old) had a wonderful time, taking day trips (Bath, Wiscasset, Morse Mountain, Popham Beach, local forts, Boothbay Harbor, e.g.), and putting together wonderful meals in the evening. I think we maybe turned the tv on once. The outdoor spaces (screened in porch, decks, docks, patio, pathways) are just as lovely as the house.

Thank you, Ellen, for sharing your lovely cottage with us. My husband and I enjoyed sitting on the deck with friends watching the seals on the large rock area in the harbor. At one point he counted 44 seals!! The cotage was comfortable and clean. Our friends enjoyed the "penthouse suite" upstairs! We nicknamed it that as it was so quaint and had a wonderful view! This was my husbands first experience on coastal Maine and he just loved it! We visited the Alpaca Farm in Wiscassett, ate at the infamous "Reds Eats", and went fishing out of Boothbay Harbor. Let me also mention the delicious lobster from the North End Co-Op right on the island. This was not a "fancy" vacation, just pure Maine fun!! We hope to visit again soon.
