          Exceeded EVERY Expectation

          5 of 5
...lifelong best friends --- both of us with three young children eight and under-- all we wanted was an escape from the rat race and peace and quiet. we didn't need frills or entertainment…the pictures were so beautiful on this website but surely it wouldn't be as perfect as it seemed? so we went with "realistic" expectations…. WELL WE WERE BLOWN AWAY!!!! we kept asking each other "who found this?" "how did we get so lucky?" everything everyone has said on here is true. i have to agree with the person who said don't underestimate the guest cottage- it's fantastic. our children would all pile in there on the beds and watch a movie while we kicked our feet up in the attached main house. all of the picturesque towns are just simple short drives away…with small children we didn't want to be in the car a lot and we never were..all the drives were so doable. we use vrbo and home away regularly and ellen is like no other owner we've ever had. she is so helpful and seems to truly want her guests to have such a wonderful time. this listing is accurate, the pictures are accurate except they don't do the charm of the inside justice. i would like to add that i have terrible allergies in "old houses" and this "vintage" home is not stuffy and dusty AT ALL! i hope that tidbit is helpful to someone b/c that can make or break a trip. trip of a lifetime! thank you ellen!

This was our first holiday visit to Maine, and we could not have chosen a more perfect rental. The home is even more beautiful and welcoming than advertised and provided the perfect base for exploring all that the mid-coast has to offer. The owners, it seems, have thought of everything. It is clear from the renovations and amenities that great care was taken to help vacationers like us feel completely at home. Details like the availability of a telescope and high quality binoculars let us easily enjoy watching the harbor seals cavort in the water. What a treat. The dock and pier, just a short walk down the hill from the house, proved a terrific venue for picnicking and just hanging out. We made extensive use of the two person kayak provided to explore the coastline. Be sure to keep an eye out as the lobstermen come by to check their traps! Connie was great to deal with. Very responsive in every way. We can't wait for next year!

          Beautiful home, beautiful location

The home, views, and yard are much lovelier than the photographs. We (a group of ten ranging in age from almost three years old to 98 years old) had a wonderful time, taking day trips (Bath, Wiscasset, Morse Mountain, Popham Beach, local forts, Boothbay Harbor, e.g.), and putting together wonderful meals in the evening. I think we maybe turned the tv on once. The outdoor spaces (screened in porch, decks, docks, patio, pathways) are just as lovely as the house.
