Our Favorite Week of the Year!

5 of 5
For the past 4 summers, my family has been traveling from Maryland to Maine to enjoy a relaxing week at Sunset Lodge on Howard Pond. Sunset Lodge is a quintessential Maine cabin that has been restored to perfectly capture how simple life can be in Maine's beautiful outdoors, while also providing modern amenities to keep life easy. The main lodge and guest house are clean and well-kept and can comfortably accommodate multiple families. The loft is spacious and has been the perfect spot for our older kids to spread out. We have also taken advantage of the furnished pump house on the waters edge, which has room for 2 to spend a quiet night and capture the early morning call of the resident loons. Our children have enjoyed countless hours fishing off the dock, swimming in the wonderfully sandy swimming/wading area, and canoeing and kayaking on the quiet pond. On the occasional rainy day, there are plenty of games, movies and books provided in the cabin to keep everyone entertained. We were delighted last year to also have the opportunity to enjoy a campfire under the stars in the newly added fire pit. The lodge is aptly named as sunsets on the porch overlooking the pond are spectacular. Peter and Lisa are the perfect hosts - they extend plenty of privacy, but are available at a moments notice if necessary. The week always goes by too quickly. We look forward to our next trip up to Sunset Lodge!

Relaxing and Romantic

5 of 5
We were looking for a quiet, relaxing, romantic spot for two, and this spot on Parker Pond was the perfect place. We enjoyed so many parts of the property and rarely wanted to leave. From the dock on the picturesque pond, to the Adirondack chairs by the fire pit, to the lovely open kitchen area, to the many other charming and comfortable spots within the house, we were extremely satisfied. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, utensils, etc. and we cooked almost all of our meals at the house without needing to bring or buy anything other than our food. The pond was beautiful and quiet and amazing for swimming and relaxing. The only suggestions for improvement are the downstairs area and the canoe. We did not need to use the downstairs area (where the bunk beds and extra 1/2 bathroom were located), but it had a stuffy, basement smell. The canoe was not in good condition and cracked during our stay. Overall, we had an amazing time and definitely recommend it. The location is more beautiful than the pictures can capture. We saw loons and bald eagles almost every day on the pond. As the Maine slogan goes, it is the way life should be. We are still missing it!

Arrive care free with everything you will need !

5 of 5
My family and friends rented this home for 3 nights and now know we will rent longer next time. We arrived at home and we were so pleasantly greeted with a clean house and it even smelled clean. The beds were comfy and having two kitchens and two living rooms was ideal for the 7 of us. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed all there was to offer. The house has two kayaks and a peddle boat with was so fun. There's a shed filled with life jackets ,floats, noodles and even the long sticks for s'mores ! I brought my 20ft bow rider and barely had to secure it against the dock because the water is calm . We really enjoyed taking boat out to the basin which is big enough to shut engine and jump out and swim. We did venture out to the big lake as well. In regards to groceries the Walmart is very close so not hard to run out for last minute things. One of the nights we went out to dinner in Raymond to a really great Mexican restaurant called A La Mexicana. Delicious ! The whole area was beautiful and peaceful. Our favorite thing at night was laughing and talking around the fire pit. The last night of our stay I asked all my family and friends if they would consider this rental again. Everyone answered immediately with a solid YES !!!
