Wonderful Vacation Spot!

5 of 5
This property is well located just a short walk from the main street in Southwest Harbor - shopping, restaurants, bars, bike rentals, kayak rentals, etc. It's about a 20 minute drive to Bar Harbor, but less than that for several of the areas within Acadia National Park. It was perfect to get away from the tourist crowds, but definitely not in the middle of nowhere. The property itself was fantastic! Everything had been recently renovated so the inside was very clean and functional. It had all the comforts of home - washer/dryer, fully equipped kitchen, 3 televisions, etc. The owner lives right next door so if you have questions or concerns, help is not far away. I was very happy with the counter space in the bathroom and the deck off the back. The deck had a view of the harbor so you could watch the tides (high and low) and take in the sun. The Cranberry Island ferry dock is just a few steps away, so island exploring is definitely a possibility! Overall, this property is a true hidden gem and we will definitely return should our travels take us back to Maine.

Wonderland

Off the beaten path of Acadia, we found this cute appartment, a great way to explore the subtle treasures of Acadia. While this place is on the quiet side of Desert Island, most attractions were very easy to reach within a thirty minutes drive. Bruce, the owner, was very helpful with maps and tips, also provided us with a flashlight in the middle of the night, when a storm cut the electricity. And we would definitely come back as soon as possible!
