Happy Campers

Fabulous location, very tranquil and not too far from Acadia National Park which was our destination for the week. It is less than an hour drive from the parks many entrances. We are active seniors (two couples) so the canoe available at the property was an added bonus. Toddy Pond is lovely. The biking in Acadia National Park was another highlight of our trip; so much to see and do and not enough time. For older couples, a queen bed instead of the day bed in the guest bedroom would have been the better choice. Climbing in and out of the upper berth of the day bed was not ideal. Our suggestion would be to relocate the day bed to the front office/den (for children) and upgrading to a queen size bed in the guest bedroom. This would definitely be a plus at this rental property for couples traveling together. Having said that, the owners, Paul & Annie were delightful and pointed us in the right direction upon our arrival. Their home is clean and well maintained with beautiful grounds. We loved the small communities surrounding Surry and enjoyed the fresh seafood dining, wild Maine blueberries, all of the delightful art and pottery galleries and the incredible beauty this area offered. Our time flew by, we loved every minute of our vacation and we felt grateful for the opportunity to have stayed at this property for the week. It restores the soul. W. & J. Cottonwood Heights, UT

Absolutely Awesome!!!

5 of 5
We were a little concerned we couldn't find a recent review on this property but when we had a last minute chance to take a vacation & this property was available, we decided to take a chance.... what an incredible waterfront cottage we found! The view, the property itself, the decor, furnishings, the wonderfully comfortable King size bed, the well appointed kitchen, Perry's Lobster Shack (yum! yum!) only 1/8 mile away, a great beach within walking distance, sweet little nearby towns for shopping & site seeing, plus Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park was only 40 minutes away! The owners were very helpful with suggestions & directions and they left us a package of delightful scones & bagels made in their own shop...what could be better then a wonderful vacation in Surry, Maine at this outstanding cottage? The only change we would recommend is we flew in & out of Boston and drove to Surry, the next time we visit, we will fly into Portland.

Our first vacation in Maine- Awesome!!!!!!!!

5 of 5
This was our first visit to Maine. Luckily we found this log cabin available for one week in August. Sadly we had only one week. We could have spent the entire summer at this gem. The cabin and the setting are amazing. We enjoyed every moment. We took daily trips to Acadia Park, hiking on trails. The evenings we spent on the beach, watching the crabs in the water at high tide. Our last evening was truly unforgettable. We had high tide around 9pm. The water was so calm, as we have never seen. The sky was a wonder, with billions of galaxies in sight. My 8 year old son saw the Milky Way for the first time in his life. In this tranquillity the only noise was made by the seals bark on the nearby island. Thank you Laura and family for sharing this "piece of haven" with us. Your house is truly a place where one desires to return.
