              Quiet , comfortable, and relaxing

              4 of 5
We were looking for a lakefront property without a lot of people around, and this fits the bill. The owners house is about 500 ft behind this, but screened by trees so you feel like you have the property to yourself. There is a campground across the lake, but the noise from there was minimal and not noticeable . The house has three levels, two bedrooms on the upper floor , no bathroom, and accessable by circular stairs which might provide a challenge to some. The main floor has a full bath, living room, kitchen and dinning space, along with a small screened in porch. Two desks on either end of the house provide extra space. The lower level has a futon bed, a bunk bed and another full bathroom. With a page fire pit and decks we enjoyed ending the day on the lake front. There is a small dock, which has a steep incline slope to get to it, but you can swim in shallow water with a muddy bottom. The property was very nicely maintained. Sugarloaf mountain is nearby with golf, zip lines and hiking, the lake while man made is small on this end, but goes for miles for excellent canoeing and kayaking. Those can be rented on the other side of the lake about a half mile walk away. A couple of nice country stores are close by, so groceries are not a problem. I would recommend buying a steak from "the Pines Market" and grilling it on the grill, best ribeye we have had in ages, and the view from the picnic table is unbeatable. Overall are experience was a very nice one, and we would certainly return for another visit

Great Home, Great Managers and Owner

              4 of 5
My family stayed at this beautiful home for the week of July 4 2013. The house is great, clean, and totally renovated. Feels like a newer upscale home. The pictures don't do the home justice Valerie, the manager, was very helpful, and the owners left a welcome basket. I like to give a full review as a realize that people may travel from afar and should have the best possible idea of what to expect. The home itself was great. We have stayed at rental homes for many years, and this home may very well be the nicest (with central air as well),. The area is very private. It is set on a very scenic lot with a large yard in the back and the lake in the front. There were a couple of issues I would like to point out. The water level on Flagstaff Lake varies greatly. At the time we rented the house, there had been a lot of rain, which raised the water level, as a result, the beach, and many of the island beaches, were underwater. The main problem we had was the mosquito's. We have been going to Maine/NH area for years, but I never had a problem with mosquito's like I did at this home. We used Deet, foggers, Tiki Lamps, none of it helped. I personally counted over 100 mosquito bites, and my 11 year old son, who insisted on going fishing regardless, had many more then that. I heard from some of the locals, that it was a very rainy year, and there were a lot of mosquito's as a result. We also went to Maine a little earlier then we typically do, which may be the reason why the mosquito's were such a problem. The only thing that helped somewhat was that Valerie brought over a fire pit and we kept a bonfire going day and night. There were a couple of warmer days and the mosquito's were less of a problem, only being a nuisance at sunset. I would imagine that later in July or August, the mosquito's would be less of a problem. Overall, the home was great, the manager is great, the lake has good fishing, even off the dock, and while not the best for swimming, it is a great lake for Kayaking with many islands to explore. I feel bad having to mention the mosquito problem, as otherwise everything was great, but they literally drove us indoors for 4 days of our stay. It is a great place for the winter (near Sugerloaf) and probably a great place in mid/end of July through August. but for early July or late June the mosquito's are a real problem. Perhaps building bat houses may help

Excellent, clean, amazingly equipped, very close to mountain, private

              5 of 5
This was an amazing rental that I would be thrilled to stay in again. I have never stayed in such a well appointed rental home (foosball table in fun basement! crockpot! the list goes on). The living area was perfect and it really was literally 6 miles from the mountain. Waking up and seeing deer in the backyard was a treat. You can't see your neighbors, so it feels secluded (in a good way), yet you can still head to the mountain for a dinner or drink out if you feel like it. Extremely accessible, extremely well kept. We stayed for an extra day due to weather in Boston and I am so glad we did! It wound up being just two of us, but we had planned for 4 friends and their 2 children to come as well and the house would have easily accommodated. So glad to have found this spot. Marcia could not have been more helpful with our delayed departure and other extra details (I was having a late christmas package sent to the house). Thank you for a wonderful stay!
