                  Home away from home

                  5 of 5
Our stay at Fort Point Cove Cottage is a vacation we will never forget. The house was exactly what we wanted and more! We stayed for 7 nights and were sad to say goodbye to this beautiful home. With its stunning views and expansive property, we woke up every morning relaxed and happy ro be there. My in-laws stayed in the master suite which for them with their early nights gave them the privacy and quiet they needed. My husband and I shared the smaller room which was still able to accommodate a king sized bed and a play pen for our toddler. The daybed on the landing was perfect for our 7 yr old daughter. The kitchen was well stocked with all the needed supplies and even had a pantry for all our goodies! Having a dishwasher and washer and dryer were added bonuses. The home was tastefully decorated, had a large 60" tv that the men loved. The location is fabulous. We spent many days exploring so many places that Maine has to offer. Shopping in Bangor, strolling in the quaint little town of Belfast. Visiting the Hope Elephants which have now been returned to their home in Oklahoma since their caretaker's tragic accidental death this month. The highlight of our trip was Acadia National Park! Just over an hour away, we loved it so much that we actually made the trip twice to get to the amazing Sand Beach. Nearby we also visited the Penobscot Narrows Observatory and Fort Knox, both within 10 minutes from FPCC. We could have spend many more weeks at this cottage and we would never have been homesick. It really felt like home. I see that the screen doors to the enclosed porch have now been put up. Unfortunately for me while we were there they were not yet in place so I missed out on relaxing on the porch since my toddler kept trying to get away! All in all a fabulous place to visit. Totally worth the price. We would definitely consider returning there in the future. Darlene the owner is a fabulous hostess and is super accommodating. Thanks Darlene!

                  great family house

                  5 of 5
Great house for a family to share. With 3 floors there is plenty of privacy. A bathroom on each floor adds to the comfort and convenience. We saw bald eagles and a Mama deer with fawn. Very peaceful place. We went to Bar Harbor for the day and took a cruise. We would definitely stay at this house again.

A bit of heaven on a sunny deck

                  5 of 5
Eighteen years ago we stayed at this home, before the internet. I was amazed we could find it again. It says something that we wanted to stay again. Suzie has made some great improvements...added a third bedroom and bath, increased the size of the deck by more than 200%, created a sun room from a screened porch, and added a huge garden and back landscaping. Sitting on the deck in the early morning with a cup of coffee while I watched the lobstermen lay or check traps was a bit of heaven. Suzie's garden was an added benefit. We picked and enjoyed ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, kale, dill, raspberries, and blackberries, even made a blackberry syrup for pancakes one morning. The home was clean with sufficient linens, towels, and kitchen equipment including lobster pots which we used twice while we were there for two weeks. The home is located down a quiet, dead end street within easy walking distance of a lighthouse, beach and pier, and Ft. Point Park. The house is surrounded by trees, brush, and other million dollar homes...a truly beautiful setting with an unobstructed view of the bay. During our stay we were visited by seals, osprey, loons, ducks, lobster boats, tankers and tugs...all a short distance from the edge of the bank. The home is located in a little community away from the crowds you find in Bar Harbor and Camden. However, we had easy access to Belfast, Searsport, Stockton Springs and its harbor, Deer Isle, Stonington, Castine, Ft. Knox at Bucksport, Blue Hill, Rockport and Rockland. Belfast, a short 15 miles away, has all you'd need...a great supermarket, bakery, shops, restaurants, a brewery, and a harbor view...a perfect place. Susie was more than accommodating. When I told her the dvd wouldn't work, she bought a new flat screen tv with a built in dvd player. Problem solved. It appears that Susie lives in the house during the off season. If I changed anything, I'd toss lots of the old papers and things stored in closets and under the cabinets. I'd also change the cabinets in the kitchen. The glass doors scared me every time they banged shut when I wasn't careful. I'd recommend this home for anyone wanting a truer Maine experience away from the tourist crowds. It's a lovely spot, and I'd go there every summer if I could.
