Refreshing getaway - fabulous views and quiet

                5 of 5
Thank you for a wonderful time - your cottage is as homey and welcoming as the photos suggest. This is the real Maine - end of a dirt road in an interesting region. The cove views from the living room windows and decks, wow,oh wow. Oh, we so relaxed. Plus, this is the quietest place we've ever rented - just what we needed after a busy day of exploring. Your kayaks looked inviting, thanks for making them available. We didn't use the equipment but appreciated the option. When we saw your loft with sleeping for 8 - 10 people, I thought that this would be a cool place for a writers or yoga retreats or a girls' getaway. Teens would love it - a space of their own. The peninsula offers so much to explore for kids to adults. Martin Point Lighthouse - on a rainy afternoon we read the vintage lightkeepers' journals in the small adjacent museum. In Port Clyde, perhaps 6 miles away from the cottage, is the ferry to Monhegan Island. Port Clyde is a small charming working port. Plus, busy Rockland town is only 20 minutes away - art, music, island ferries, great food. Don't miss the Farnsworth Art Museum or the walk out to Rockland Light. For Wyeth fans, the Farnsworth offers tickets and directions to the Olson House (Christina's World). After writing all this, I am homesick for St. George, I'm a former Mainer and recommend this highly for those who want to experience Maine in a traditional way - active outdoors, unplugged, or quiet when you need it.

                Eight wonderful summers

                5 of 5
My family and I have rented this property for the past eight years. We started at one week and were soon up to two and now three weeks. We recently signed-up for three weeks in 2009. The property is maintained in excellent condition , is always clean and the owners caring about the satisfaction of their renters. The house is located on one of the most senic harbors in Maine and provides an overview of a lobster fishing villiage. My family fell in love with this property the first time they saw it. The house has many amenities and is well equiped. It is spacious and accomodative to a large family. The area is mid-coast Maine and very beautiful. A short distance away is Rockland with its resturants and museum. Port Clyde, a classic Maine fishing/working port is close and has ferry service to Monhegan Island. There are three generations in our family and all always can find someting of interest to do including several beaches for the young ones. As you can tell, we recommend the property highly.
