Southwest Harbor Stay

5 of 5
Review October, 2014 We highly recommend the Greenhouse. We stayed for a week during fall color season. As other reviewers have noted, the cottage was spotless and comfortable, and the owners were both thoughtful and helpful. We would add that this is an artist’s cottage. Every corner has something for the imagination. The Morrison Hotel poster above the coat rack. The bentwood rocker in the main bedroom. The interplay of sheet metal and wood on the downstairs level makes a delightful reference to the cottage’s barn-like shape. The Greenhouse makes a wonderful romantic getaway.

Great place to stay

5 of 5
We rented this house for the first week of September, 2014. It was delightful. The house had everything we needed like dishes, pots and pans, towels, linens, etc. The owners were easy to deal with and got my security deposit back to me in less than a week after our stay. The house was clean. There was a billiards table and an air hockey table in the lower level, which was fun. There was also satellite TV and free WiFi. Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor were a short drive away. There weren't really three bedrooms, but two bedrooms and an additional bed in the lower level. I would recommend this house to anyone. And financially, it's a bargain.

Beautiful property in a convenient location

5 of 5
We stayed the last week in August. Two families, one with kids ages 3.5 and 6, and one family with a 18-mo old. Eric is a wonderful host. Eric and Laurie have completely redone this home, and you will find it to be beautifully decorated, comfortable, and completely in line with the photos. Eric was easy to get in touch with the two times we had questions, and very pleasant. There are three bedrooms upstairs. One is fairly large, with a closet, rocking chair, and queen sized bed. This room also has a window a/c unit. That was helpful because it was quite warm the last week in August and it also blocked out the road noise from Main Street below. The middle bedroom has bunk beds with a twin over full, and the third room has a queen bed. The beds and linens are all clean and comfy. We were a little challenged because we traveled with small children - and with the bedrooms right next each other, noise did travel. There is also a bathroom with a bathtub/shower. Towels are provided. The main floor has a living room, kitchen and dining area, and another bathroom with a washer/dryer and shower. So nice to have two bathrooms! So many lovely touches that make this house feel like you are staying in a friends home more so than a rental. The kids were delighted to find a dollhouse and games in the closet, as well as a stack of books in the middle bedroom. There is a wonderful firepit in the backyard, and a stockpile of wood. They even have marshmallow roasting sticks. They have wifi - perfect for the kids to stream Netflix so Mom and Dad can sleep another hour! There is the picnic table on the back deck, and you'll find a tablecloth for it one of the drawers - overall, just very thoughtful touches. The location in SW Harbor is great. It is right on Main Street. It's a 1.1 mile walk to Beal's Lobster Pier, and probably about the same to downtown. You aren't right in the cutesy part of SW Harbor, but you're close enough to enjoy it. There is a coffee shop that you can walk too, as long as you comfortable walking along the road. When I was scouring the internet for properties, this rental felt like a really good value. We were very pleased with our decision to stay here.
