Spacious yet cozy, close to town yet tranquil!

                                5 of 5
Thanks to Bruce and Rebecca for a wonderful stay! Everything was fantastic and there was SO much space (there ended up being only the four of us this time, but we could bring our extended family if need be). Despite the large space, we still felt cozy and our 9-month old loved exploring. The property is wonderful, there are little hidden nooks everywhere yet it is very well landscaped and manicured. We were literally a 3-5 minute walk down the hill and in literal center of Southwest Harbor. The bus to Acadia is around the block. And right up the street from the hubbub of town, you find yourself in this peaceful place, a true miracle. Will stay again.

A Super Place to Stay in Southwest Harbor, Maine

                                5 of 5
We stayed a Whitney Cape cod House I (there is another house beside it called Whitney Cape Cod House II ~ it was occupied when we were there and it didn't affect our stay at all). We had a wonderful time and the weather was beautiful until the last day or so! We love walking to the town to get breakfast at Sips and then we would walk back to the town dock and watch the harbor activity with our 2nd cup of coffee. There were several restaurants to choose from and all good. A couple of days we went to the recreation center, Harbor House, on Herrick Road, and worked out but we mostly hiked and climbed the mountains on the Quiet Side. We did a day trip to Bar Harbor and biked the ocean drive park loop road. We went back and drove up Cadillac on another day and had a picnic at Bar Harbor Sand Beach. But, mostly we stayed on this side of the island. We loved hiking Ship Harbor, Wonderland( fairly easy hiking) and picnicking at Seawall. We climbed Mansell, Beech, Acadia and Flying Mountains. We loved coming back to this traditional cape cod cottage. When the weather got a little rainy, we read the books we borrowed from the town library beside the fireplace. It was so peaceful and we left Whitney Cape Cod Cottage I, so rested and relaxed. We would definitely recommend this rental.

                                Wonderful Vacation Spot!

                                5 of 5
This property is well located just a short walk from the main street in Southwest Harbor - shopping, restaurants, bars, bike rentals, kayak rentals, etc. It's about a 20 minute drive to Bar Harbor, but less than that for several of the areas within Acadia National Park. It was perfect to get away from the tourist crowds, but definitely not in the middle of nowhere. The property itself was fantastic! Everything had been recently renovated so the inside was very clean and functional. It had all the comforts of home - washer/dryer, fully equipped kitchen, 3 televisions, etc. The owner lives right next door so if you have questions or concerns, help is not far away. I was very happy with the counter space in the bathroom and the deck off the back. The deck had a view of the harbor so you could watch the tides (high and low) and take in the sun. The Cranberry Island ferry dock is just a few steps away, so island exploring is definitely a possibility! Overall, this property is a true hidden gem and we will definitely return should our travels take us back to Maine.
