LOVELY BASE FOR EXPLORING ACADIA

5 of 5
The Artist's Retreat is an ideal base for a couple to explore Acadia. The carriage house is small, but comfortable and well maintained. The owners provide great information and support as needed, but are very respectful of their guests privacy. The photos and overall presentation of the carriage house on the website are quite accurate. The living area is small but comfortable, with a couple nice sofas. It opens into a well equipped kitchen with a small table for dining. The bedroom is a nice size, and there is enough closet space. The carriage house sits within an open space in pine woods, and there is an outdoor seating area good for reading or just enjoying the peace and quiet. The property is situated a bit far from the town of Southwest Harbor. It is possible to walk into town without going on the main highway (Maine 102), but it's more a hike than a stroll, and takes about 30 minutes. So any shopping and restaurant visits are best done by car. This is a beautiful place in perfect condition and I highly recommend it as a base for exploring Acadia.

EVERYTHING WE NEEDED

5 of 5
My husband and I settled right in at Manset Studio. The owners, Mary and Tom, are great and have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and inviting. Kitchen amenities are plentiful if you decide to eat in and there is a nice grill in the side yard. The bed is very comfortable and the wi-fi works great. The private location is pretty central to many outdoor activities and you don't have to go far to enjoy the various harbors and coves. We took advantage of the Free Island Explorer bus when we had gone for a bike ride that was a little longer and harder than anticipated. We just boarded the bus with our bikes and were dropped off right at the end of the driveway to Manset Studio. The kayaks provided were fun and easy to carry on my sedan using the mounts provided.

WONDERFUL VACATION EXPERIENCE!

5 of 5
My family rented the Napier Cottage for a week: four "parents," two kids in their 20s. We found the house itself spectacular. Nothing was missing. The kitchen is up to date, well-stocked. The bedrooms are large and comfy. Bathrooms modern. Kitchen all you could want. The deck, the yards, the gazebo, and the view---all fabulous. And there are great restaurants and stores just a few minutes' walk away from the front door. We hiked along Acadia's pink granite ledges for day, also on the pleasant and family-friendly "carriage roads" laid down by John D. Rockefeller. All of it and much more are a short drive from Napier Cottage! Then there is "the landlady," who provided all the information we needed to explore and enjoy the area. We would recommend the Napier Cottage to anyone seeking a real vacation along the north coast of Maine. Wonderful!
