You can't get closer to the water!

My husband and I were looking for a cozy cottage with a fireplace on the ocean to spend a relaxing Columbus Day weekend and that's exactly what we found here. We loved the setting of the cottage, nestled in the pines right on the Damariscotta River with views toward the ocean and stunning sunsets. Huge windows on the first floor take advantage of the views and both of us gasped when we came downstairs our first morning and saw the view in the daytime. The cottage isn't fancy, with a dated kitchen and furniture, but for us, that simply adds to the rustic "Maine camp" atmosphere. Plenty of firewood was available and the fireplace heated the main room in a hurry. We cooked our meals and found the kitchen well stocked with all the cookware one could want, plus rockweed within spitting distance to use to steam your lobster (lobster available just down the road in South Bristol at the Co-op). It does get cold in the shoulder seasons, as one would expect for this type of uninsulated property in Maine, but we were well prepared with warm clothes. There were space heaters in each room as well, which was an unexpected bonus. For those wanting to explore, this is a beautiful area with lots to see--the charming town of Damariscotta, the Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay (stop and pick up some Glidden Point oysters on your way), and Pemaquid Point/lighthouse to name just a few. Tim was responsive and helpful through all of our emails with him. We'd love to come back someday!

Just great. Comfortable, lovely touches, like great soap, sheets--little things--not to mention on a beautiful spot overlooking the Damariscotta River. Great host, who went out and bought a new tv when the present one wasn't working properly. Plus-- Wonderful location in Maine for people who don't want to travel a zillion miles north--and on our favorite peninsula, the Pemaquid, because it is so non-touristy. Definitely a plus for a revisit. Yo--Tony!!

Just what we were looking for!

The house and property was exactly as described. There was plenty room for all of us, my husband and myself, our four adult kids and their spouses, girlfriends, as well as our granddaughter and a close family friend. We fished, and hiked, and biked, and walked, and toured Pemaquid lighthouse. We cooked and ate, and sat by the fire, both outside and in. We slept in cozy beds at night, and shared a huge lobster feast together around the huge dining table. We can't wait to go back and do it again! What a beautiful spot!!
