Morningside Cottage is absolutely beautiful and Adele is a JOY! Our party of four included two couples, our selves (age 55-62) and our inlaws (age mid-to-late 70's.) Everything presented in the photos of the cottage is accurate and it is adorable. Adele provides wonderful, fresh linens and plenty of towels and blankets, and having the washer and dryer leaves you no excuse to go home with dirty clothes! The kitchen is stocked magnificently with various pots, pans and utensils, and the dishwasher makes it a pleasure for the cook! It's probably better than our kitchen at home! Seating for dining is plentiful, and oh, that screened-in porch in the back!! That alone is worth the price of admission!
Adele provides her guests with privacy yet is a phone call away when she is needed. Unfortunately we underestimated Mother Nature a bit; the lake became really rough and our pontoon boat had a tangle with rocks near the dock. It was pretty scary, so unless you're are a very good boatsperson, you might want to fish from the dock or boat on a smaller lake, because Sebago Lake B-I-G, pretty much like the ocean. Adele actually jumped into the lake in an attempt to de-snag us; I now will refer to her as Mighty Mouse! She is wonderful.
It is mentioned in the amenities section of the posting that Morningside Cottage is"... unsuitable for elderly or infirm...wheelchair inaccessible" and this is true. I chatted with Adele about this before we booked and she was very informative. I felt our old relatives would be fine. However, potential guests should know that both bathrooms are on the first floor (I didn't notice this in the pictures, although it does clearly say they are next to each other.) Also, there are two steps that lead down into the kitchen (there's a great safety handle to grab onto.) I did not realize this from the pictures. So, if stairs are an issue (as they are for my mother-in-law, who walks with a cane.) or you have more than the usual number of potty trips during the night (ladies, you know what I mean) you may want to note this.
Despite those factors (which to some may be very minor) we adored out trip. It truly is a piece of heaven. Thank you Adele & Mac.
