Peaceful, restorative idyll in a special place

5 of 5
My family loves this magical, quiet house in a green corner of Maine, close to lakes and ponds, hiking trails, rivers to canoe or kayak, and great antiquing, with a hill full of blueberries to pick in season. The large kitchen is perfect for family gatherings as meals are prepared. The dining room table expands to seat quite a large party. The fireplace is often the focus after dinner. And then outside a sky full of stars, and even shooting stars if we are lucky. We always rejoice to arrive here again, and leave at the end of our visit rested and renewed. We feel very lucky to have found this summer treasure.

Beautiful and relaxing...

5 of 5
We had a wonderful time at this beautiful lake house that was quietly settled away in Sebako Lake basin with minimal bat traffic going by, making for a very relaxing stay. We enjoyed taking our boat to the Sand Bar and swimming. The kids loved jumping off the dock and going out on the paddle boat and kayaks. We went into Portland for dinner one night and had the best seafood! At night, we sat by the campfire and roasted smokes. All in all it was a great vacation at a really special spot. We look forward to returning in the future.

Family Vacation

5 of 5
Everything worked out great for us. We have two smaller children (3 & 5) so having the private beach was great, plus the water was nice and shallow for several yards out. The water was incredibly clean and there were no sharp rocks (other than the large ones in the pictures), however, you will still want to bring water shoes. The house seems to have been all redone, and everything worked perfectly, i.e. water, electric, heat. It was definitely a plus to have the 1 and 1/2 baths! The screened in porch was fantastic! Even though there were no mosquitoes during the day, at night it was nice to just sit on the rocking chairs on the porch while avoiding the bugs that came out at night. Another great thing was that pretty much within 20 minutes, you could be at whatever store you were looking for, i.e. Hannaford's, Walmart, Walgreens, etc. The Sebago Lake state park is also great to visit with kids. Though get there early to get a picnic table and a nice spot on the beach! There was also a wildlife reserve that was within 40 minutes that was a lot of fun to walk thru. My kids didn't have any issues with the stairs, however you will want to make sure you close the gate at the top if your children tend to wander! They have a canoe and kayak which is great. If you have a boat though, they have a dock that you can use. Next time I would definitely bring one up!
