Great week at the lake

4 of 5
We rented both houses for a family reunion for my wife's family which consisted of 4 adult couples and 2 sinlge adults, plus 9 children ranging from 6 weeks old to age 8. The homes themselves were great and in the condition described in the listing. I wish I had known in advance that there was no air conditioning but now that I'm talking with others, that's pretty much standard in all of Maine for a rental property so the fact that it wasn't on there certainly does not reflect poorly on the property or the listing itself. The lake is very nice. It's large enough to do boating and other activities without feeling crowded, but it's not so large that there are a million people flocking to the lake for the day and filling it up and making you worry about the safety of children swimming around the dock. And it's a great temperature for swimming, kayak, canoe, etc. The owners were very attentive to our needs, as we had an unexpected plumbing emergency in the kitchen at 4:30am. They answered our call right away and had a plumber there to fix it by 7:30am, and this was on the July 4th holiday. The only reason I'm leaving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the write-up doesn't make it clear the treehouse is across the street from the lakehouse. So while it is "just behind" in the truest sense, the write up could leave people with the impression that they physically occupy the same piece of property. There were 10 adults in our group all reading through the listing before selecting a house, and when we showed up we all had the same reaction that the listing made it seem to us that they were sharing land rather than across the street. With young children in the group (even those who are 8), it was unsafe to let them walk in between the two properties without an adult chaperone. The street is calm and remote for the most part, but there were definitely some cars flying down it at 35+mph at random times that would give me pause in letting a child cross the road unattended. I'd definitely recommend the two homes for groups with mostly older children or all adults, as the distance between the houses is short and for those who are older would have no safety issues with crossing roads.

Week getaway

5 of 5
I can't even begin to explain how much fun our family had. It was amazing from start to finish! The house was the perfect size and had everything you need for a relaxing week. I am already looking to book for next summer. We spent lots of time on the dock fishing and swimming and even kayaking. The fire pit was fantastic for cooking and enjoying cool nights. The deck was amazing with gorgeous views. We enjoyed dinners in and out and lots of shopping at local stores. We will back for sure, great for kids of all ages. Thanks so much it was just what we all needed!

Great Vacation Rental w/ many perks

5 of 5
Our family vacationed @ this property from July 11 - July 18, 2009 with another family. In all there were 7 of us + one very happy Beagle named Shilo. The homeowners were very friendly and accomodating. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything that you would need + more. It was also nice, not to have to pack linens for the beds .. they were also provided for us. The home also had a computer with wireless internet access, which was a plus .. we did not have to come home to 1000 emails .. we could check them daily. The deck was a great place to enjoy coffee in the AM and drinks in the evening. Our dog Shilo, loved the deck, however we had to block the stairs so he did not wander off. We enjoyed campfires, cooked dinner on the gas grill and docked 2 boats @ the dock provided to us by the homeowner. There was ample parking for both our vehicles and boat trailers. The property has a gentle slope to the docks, which made loading up the boats very easy. We shopped in Freeport, we beached our boats @ the sandbar @ the State Park, just around the bend from the property. We met the owners father Jake, who gave our boys alot of information about fishing and where to visit on the Lake. We had lunch @ Frye Island, which was a nice treat .. and the boys swam into the cave @ Frye's Leap. We had dinner @ the Lobster Pound, which has a very nice wait staff. The weather during out stay was good .. temps in mid to upper 70's with the water temp between 68 and 71 degrees. The boys enjoyed fishing, tubing and skiing while on the Lake. We had a great week and we would highly reccomend renting this property if you are considering Sebago Lake.
