A Cozy Honeymoon Week

5 of 5
My husband and I recently stayed here for our honeymoon and we couldn't have asked for a better week! The lofty was cozy and quiet. The view is amazing. I loved getting up in the mornings and having a cup of coffee or wandering the grounds to take photos. We brought our kayaks and would explore the river where it was easy to spot seals and bald eagles and other water birds. Sam and Ruth were very helpful with anything we needed and suggestions for places to eat. Definitely a great place to get away from it all. Brunswick and Bath were also not too far away to go into town for visiting and eating. There is a great restaurant on the island called the Osprey that Sam suggested that we were fortunate enough to get to eat at on our first weekend before they closed for the season. Reid State Park on the island is also a beautiful spot to visit. A day trip up the coast is full of things to do and see. We also took the Maine Eastern Train and it was a fun beautiful afternoon trip.

Halloween in Kittery & Portsmouth 2014

4 of 5
My husband and I took a long weekend for a late fall getaway in the New England area. We stayed in Kittery, ME at this little dog friendly studio apt a few blocks from kittery's main center. Location was perfect for us. We brought our small dog and took daily walks down to Lils for our morning coffee. We had researched Portsmouth a bit before we arrived and were happy to be only a 10minute walk from the downtown Area. Linda, the owner of the studio lives upstairs and while we knew she was available if need be, she stayed out of our way and let us enjoy our stay. She was extremely nice and recommended the Portsmouth Halloween parade which we didn't know about. She even offered costumes for us to borrow if we wanted to dress up. The small studio was just what we needed. And the value was great. We took the Portsmouth eats food tour and made it a point to try out kittery's raved about black birch restaurant. All in all, we ate GOOD! Overall the getaway was a success even despite the cold rainy weather we ran into while there. We would definitely return... in the spring!

Fabulous space in a beautiful location

5 of 5
Joy's studio was perfect for our short Maine vacation. Next time, we hope to stay for a week, at least! When we arrived and walked up the stairs to the studio, my daughter exclaimed, "Wow! Can I live here?!" The space is bright and open with a high ceiling. It is literally an art studio/studio apartment with everything in one large room, but so cleverly arranged that as you move from cooking to eating to lounging to sleeping, it feels like several rooms. The studio is fully equipped with all those things that I often wish other places had thought to provide. We loved watching the birds coming to the feeders on the balcony. The grounds are beautiful, and we enjoyed the fresh cut flowers from Joy's garden. The location is quiet enough to be a "get-away", but Damariscotta, South Bristol, Christmas Cove, and Boothbay Harbor are easy to get to. The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is a must-do trip. Joy was a gracious host and very accommodating. She has lots of information available and suggestions about area attractions, if you need them. The arrangements for our rental, arrival, and departure were smooth and easy. We look forward to returning next year!
