Ha great stay. Very nice location just south of all the Portland activities and just North of the Portland Head Light.

Oh, we had such a lovely time!

5 of 5
We came for a week over Labor Day, and had a wonderful, relaxing, laid-back vacation that we both really needed. We had coffee or wine on the floating dock and just watched the tide turn, or went walking in the morning along the trails. There is a seal in the river, who comes up to watch, and eagles, a great blue heron and lots of ravens and crows and coyotes, all living right there. There were very few mosquitoes, just down in the marsh itself, and while there were some biting flies at Reid, the pass was also good for Popham Beach, which is only 20 minutes away, and that was perfect for a lazy beach day. We found that we went to Bath for our town needs rather than Georgetown (many closer food places including Five Islands close or limit hours after Labor Day, so Bath worked out much better). There is a cheap IGA for basics, and other places where you can get higher end goodies if you want. We really enjoyed the Bath Maritime Museum's river cruises--we got on the last wildlife cruise of the season, and saw lots of bald eagles, and then did one of the lighthouse cruises...and saw more eagles, seals, and even a sturgeon. We should have left more time for the museum, but we'll have to do that next time. Anyway--the property was very comfortable, clean and quiet. There is another guesthouse that seemed at first to be quite close from the front window--it turned out that we could hear them occasionally but it wasn't at all annoying. If you have a dog, there are two flights of stairs connected by a ramp every time they have to go out and the dog may have to learn to use the open stairs. One mild surprise is that I somehow thought there would be water down in the boathouse, but the water is out front--the boathouse is a repair and building area, but extremely well sound-insulated and quiet. There is lots of hot water for showers; the bed is comfortable. You will want spring water for ice cubes, cooking, drinking and brushing your teeth as the tap water is quite salty; Ruth and Sam start you out with a couple of gallons in the fridge. Get more at the IGA! And while you're there, go to the quirky old books shop, Remy's if you need anything mundane, the ice cream store, and get some ginger cardamom gelato to eat in the riverside park. Oh, and there really is only one dog beach during this time--it's right next to Fort Popham, not to be confused with Popham Beach. Double check anywhere you plan to take your dog--access varies widely. A great stay!

The Very Best Value in Ogunquit, Maine

5 of 5
I've rented this studio 4 times over the past 13 months. The apartment, the house, and the yard are gorgeous! Everything is spotless and in perfect condition. Well equipped, no matter what I look for, it's always there! It's the best location in the village. Situated on a quiet street, it's only minutes from everything! I love walking Marginal Way as the town wakes, the sights are breathtaking. After eating from one of the many fabulous choices on Perkins Cove, I enjoy walking along the streets looking at the many shops, galleries, eateries, hotels, and beautiful homes. Back in town, it's only a 6-minute walk to one of the nicest beaches imaginable. While cold, the Atlantic is the perfect spot to splash and play. After dinner at one of my many favorite restaurants, I have the choice of taking in an award winning musical at The Ogunquit Playhouse, singing alongside the piano at The Front Porch, dancing at Mainstreet, the hottest summer spot in Maine, or watching the people as I enjoy an ice cream walking along the people lined streets. Everytime there is magical! Ken is very nice and responsive and I can't wait to return in August!
