Cannot say enough good things about our stay here!

5 of 5
My partner and I had a phenomenal time at Chris's place! Beautiful gardens, immaculate decor, and impeccably clean. And, really fun to cook in a chef's kitchen! Close to EVERYTHING... 20 minutes to awesome beaches , 10 minutes to downtown Portland, 5 minutes to Alagash (our favorite brewery), 20 minutes to Freeport. Honestly, this was the best location we could have asked for! We are planning to relocate to Maine in the next few years, so we were in the area looking for the best neighborhoods to buy a home. Well, after this visit, we will look no further! We plan to return this winter, and hopefully will have the good fortune to stay here again! Also, Chris was a great communicator, and went above and beyond to accommodate our very last minute booking. I had booked a place on Air BnB months before our planned trip, but for some reason, it was canceled right before our trip....and, the owner was totally unresponsive when I asked why!! I went through a few days of anxious searching, and was lucky enough to stumble upon Chris's listing. She called me back about 10 minutes after I sent her an inquiry...just three days before we were to arrive in Maine! She immediately put my mind at ease and saved our vacation!! Thanks to Chris, and her hospitality! We will be returning as soon as we can!!

Incredible views & steps from the beach!

5 of 5
I really enjoyed my time here! I went for the R&R and that's exactly what I got! The views were incredible, the constant sound of the Atlantic ocean waves lulled me to sleep every nite. Robin & Grace were fantastic hosts, very friendly & easy to talk to if I had any questions. They made me feel welcome instantly. Mid-town Portland is just a few minutes away for those who like to bar crawl or eat at the many restaurants & pubs, or do some touristy cruises. My favorite was the "Lucky Catch" cruise where I actually ate the lobster I just caught on the cruise for dinner!! The Portland Headlight is just down the street. Other awesome lighthouses are within a short driving distance. So much history here... Thank you again, Robin & Grace for your hospitality, & I definitely would recommend this property to anyone!! Clean, beautiful nice location, but a few problems

4 of 5
The apartment was clean and lovely, nicely furnished and decorated, and within walking distance of many conveniences. We loved the neighborhood, found lots to do and enjoyed Portland very much. I would recommend purchasing Old Port passes that give access to 5 attractions at a reduced cost. One can take many tours of the city or self-directed lighthouse or walking tours. However, some of the amenities listed for this vacation rental were not available: shampoo, Mac and PC computers. We ended up walking to a gas-station convenience store at 11:30 pm for shampoo. (I suggested to the owner that items be removed from future listings, if not available.) The coffee maker didn't work and the hair dryer (which we couldn't find for several days) died after one use. The electricity was shut off for a day ---we were not informed ahead of time as other building tenants were. After power was restored, it took several hours before we could access wifi again. The locks to the apartments were difficult.---keys stuck in both doors to the apartment, although the door into the building was easy. Be aware that the apartment is on the second floor of an old building (no elevator.) We were unaware of this ---probably should have asked ---and although we don't need ramps or elevators on a day-to-day basis, we are an older couple with some arthritis and back problems, so carrying our belongings in and out were difficult. The owners were out of town. The woman they left in charge did her best to resolve our issues. Since the apartment was very nice, I would love to be able to give it a 5-star rating. Even though nothing was terrible, the small inconveniences accumulated day by day, so we cannot give it a top rating.
