Family home that could make anyone happy

              5 of 5
After living in Windham for most of my life, I was very hesitant when my dad told me we were moving to Portland. I had very high expectations for this house if he was having us move from a lake side property, to a house in the city. But I must say, my expectations were met and then some. I couldn't believe the size of the place, and how huge the yard was. Living here made it very easy to have friends stay over and be able to stay out of my dad’s hair. When we stayed there I had multiple gatherings of 40+ people, for things like prom and graduation, and everyone was comfortably moving around the house. The patio was a perfect background for pictures. The patio was actually one of my favorite things about the house; it is a beautifully built, and there was a guaranteed view of the sunset every night. With the huge field and the Portland Trail System near by, it was a nice way to get out of the city while still being there. Having the lawn maintained was another huge thing. As you can tell there is a lot of lawn to maintain so it was nice to have such a willing and helpful property manager to take care of things like that. Patrick was always friendly and never bothered by the tasks we asked him to do for us. I would most definitely recommend this house to anyone and everyone. It’s a less than 10 minute drive from the city, and about 20 minutes to surrounding towns like Windham, Westbrook, and Falmouth. One of my favorite activities while living there would have to be snow shoeing the trails in the winter; they lead to a big open field, about a 5-10 minute walk, that is good for dogs or kids, to go run around in. Having the convenience of Amato’s about 5 minutes away was also a plus of this estate.

Perfect and Relaxing in Every Way

              5 of 5
My husband & I are so grateful that we were able to enjoy this beautiful home. It is exactly as described: wonderfully decorated, clean and inviting. The house was well-stocked with everything we needed. It was a pleasure to come home from our daily excursions and just sit on the front porch and enjoy the quiet and cool evening breezes with our 12 year old lab. The home is in a great location with friendly neighbors on either side. We were able to walk to the beach, Scratch's bakery and Willard Scoops for ice cream. The city of Portland is a 5 minute ride and has many places to shop and eat. We ate most of our meals out because we have never been to Maine and wanted to experience it all. Becky's is an old retro diner that served really good breakfasts. Gritty's was a good place to enjoy a beer and sandwich after browsing and shopping in the city. We loved Shipyard Brewery and the Lobster House where we had the best wild blueberry ale on draft! Bug Light Park and Fort Williams ( the best lobster rolls ever) were fun outings also. We really had a hard time leaving this beautiful state and I have to say that Maggie was a delight to deal with. We hope to be there again soon.

              Winter Getaway--A Family Tradition

              5 of 5
My wife and I and our (now) teenage children have been staying at this charming home for a couple of long winter weekends each year, usually in December and then sometimes again in February. I originally discovered this home a few years ago and surprised my wife with a Valentines getaway. We enjoyed our time in the Portland (and Freeport) area, as well as our evenings in the home, so thoroughly that we decided we needed to share it with our kids. Since that initial stay, it has become a special tradition for our family and we try to reserve a Christmas shopping stay each year in December; and then, when the home is available, we will often return in February to break up the winter (and my wife and girls enjoy the post-Christmas bargains in Freeport). We truly can’t say enough about the comforts of this home and the special extras provided by the owners, Marilys and Robert. The home is so welcoming and inviting in every way. We usually arrive in the evening and the heat is always set to our ideal temperature upon arrival; the fireplace often has a fire going, the lights are on; there are flowers, chocolates, etc. It’s quite a cozy home, very warm, has comfortable furniture for gathering by the fire at night, and very good mattresses, something we have not always encountered in other rental homes. We also find the location to be perfect for our needs. The area is unusually peaceful and quiet, which is a nice retreat from our fast-paced Boston life, but there are theaters and coffee shops nearby that our kids really appreciate when my wife and I want some quiet time at the house. We always look forward to our favorite Portland restaurants and the breakfast places in Falmouth are the best we’ve found in the area. We just reserved our December stay and look forward to seeing all of the changes the owners made to the house this past summer. We truly need to thank you both for helping us create a special family tradition that we all look forward to each year. Thanks again for everything and we look forward to seeing you very soon.
