This amazing house on Casco Bay was the perfect location for us (my partner and I). It's our first time in Maine and we couldn't have asked for a better place to enjoy the magnificent coastal beauty. This house literally sits right at the edge of the bay with a 180 degree view of glistening water. Boats dock in a distance where lobster men pull up their catch. It's as picturesque as one would expect to see in a Maine postcard! We spent a week here in the beginning of May, and the weather wasn't yet ideal to do many outdoor activities. When it wasn't raining we barbecued outside and tried our luck fishing right off the dock. We napped on the hammock under two small trees while taking in the fresh ocean breeze.Sitting out on the deck we watched the loons play and the lobster men at work. When it rained we stayed inside and played board games or just read books at the dining table where the main attraction is the view of Casco-- Enjoying a lobster dinner here at dusk beats any fine dining restaurant anytime, anywhere! My partner and I loved the privacy that came with this house. There were neighboring houses perhaps 50 yards on either side. They might have been vacation rentals as well, but at this early in the season no one was around but us. Privacy was one of the main(e) thing we were looking for and we got plenty of it! Our host, Larry, was extremely helpful. He provided us with directions, info on grocers and places to get basic needs, info on where to eat and points of interest. In the house we found many, many brochures on attractions in the entire state of Maine. Our mobile phone service had very poor receptions at this house, but there was internet and Larry was always on standby via email to answer any inquiries we might have had. He also had housekeepers that would come around if we needed them. We spent a few days exploring neighboring towns. Brunswick and Bar Harbor were quaint and lovely. Freeport and Portland were bustling yet enjoyable. One of the highlights of our trip was hiking on Cadillac Mountain on Mount Desert Island. The views up there were nothing short of majestic--they took our breath away! We had the pleasure of talking to some locals at Erica's Lobster Pound just down the street. They were some of the nicest people we have ever met. This lobster pound, by the way, had the best prices and best lobsters around. Overall, this house is highly recommended for those looking to take what everything Maine has to offer.

Thea is different from all other rentals we have known. When you are there it feels like you are the luckiest people in the world to know the folks who own this place and call it their home. It feels like your home, too, as everything you could want to relax in comfort is there. At the same time, it takes you far away from your usual world, as Thea is perched on a tiny island at the edge of the sea! How fabulous to see ithe ocean all around you, all the time, out of every window, and to hear it lull you to sleep at night. We have been especially appreciative of the detailed guidebooks the owner's provde to answer every question you may have about the house and the many attractions in the vicinity. Every time we go back, the owners have added amenities and renovations - this time, WiFi and cable access for computers, new gas heating system, and an additional patio on the front so you can enjoy contemplating the sea from yet another direction! We've had great dinners with friends around the big table and quiet days of solitude, tourist days up and down the coast and quiet nights by the fireplace; canoeing around the islands and walking around the point. The creativity Flying Point Island inspires has been awesome: we write, we play instruments, we take photographs; we laugh, we sing, we dance. Bliss.
