                Perfect rental

                5 of 5
The Skybox condo was fantastic. Liv, the co-owner, met us upon our arrival and showed us the space. My guests and I quickly could see much thought had been put into making the condominium welcoming for visitors. Light streamed through large clean windows and splashed across the living / kitchen / idining area. With very high ceilings and plenty of floorspace, my fears that the skybox unit might be too small for our party of six quickly abated. ( 2 friends slept on air mattresses in the living room). Liv's design sense was reflected in her choice of fixtures and furnishings, all sleek and tasteful. This sensibility carried itself right through the space into the generously sized bathroom and two bedrooms. We were impressed by the crisp, clean decor and gleaming hardwood floors throughout. We like to cook, and the kitchen area was very workable with plenty of countertop space, a gas stove, and large refrigerator with a great ice maker. The sink was deep and included a garbage disposal. Friends could easily gather and gab as cooks prepared seafood from nearby markets. The wine refrigerator was neatly tucked away in the corner and comfortably accommodated our wine supply. Although the air was cool, and we did not need the air conditioner, it seemed to have plenty of cooling power. There is a small balcony we enjoyed as well. We brought four bicycles with us and were able to keep them safely in the garage. The location of the skybox was just right, on the edge of the city in a comfortable neighborhood with a coffee shop just around the corner and a friendly and busy bike shop just across the street. We had very quick walking access to Old Port and many amazing restaurants and shops, but were happy to return to our quiet retreat after touring or dining out. In summation, I, as well as my guests, was more than satisfied with the skybox and think it is quite a nice find.

                Great Location

                5 of 5
As a family with two young children, convenience is key to a successful vacation and this place has it all. Walking distance to much of what Portland has to offer-restaurants, shops, the works! We will be looking to rent again next year.

                4 stars but...

                4 of 5
the condo is superb, modern, functional and uncluttered as in an hotel except that it did not match the hotel standards in our case. knowing we'd arrive late, we brought tons of vegetables to make a soup pot at our arrival. bang! no salt but 2 pepper grinders in the cupboard...and that's it (in a beautiful kitchen with viking appliances). BTW no paper towels at arms' reach, nothing else actually. we managed to get some "fleur de sel" from Brittany to season our soup and served it at half past ten, but we should have guessed: no ladle to serve the soup! one of us started to have doubt about the existence of a wine opener... after a very late night dinner, i rushed to the beautiful bathroom to take a shower. guess what? no shampoo...not only in the shower but nowhere else... back to the kitchen, one of us could not find the detergent for the dishwasher (supposed to be under the sink). our nice landlord did bring it the next day though... i finally borrowed the soap from the sink to wash my hair, and since it was bed time: you would not go to bed with wet hair, wouldn't you? but no hair dryer to be found... at that point, i felt a bit not at ease...but we were on vacation, we valued family time...no big deal to go to sleep w/ wet hair... after all, we did enjoy the house (the flames of the BBQ were weak though) the neighborhood, the town, the downtown...til the check out date. usually checkout time is around 11-noon so everyone was still sleeping when i checked out the checkout time. omg it was NOW! 10 AM! text-messaged to landlord if we could stay a bit longer? there was no NO as an answer but: "the cleaning lady was on her way..." i should have thought of paying the cleaning lady's wages to provide us some xtra time (since no tenant was expected to come on that same day, dixit our nice landlord) hey after all thanks to the landlord we stopped by the ICA in Boston before catching our flight home! yes i'd recommend that condo to anyone, but bring your shampoo, your hairdryer and order an hour or 2 of xtra time before checkout-(:
