Peaks Island house stay

5 of 5
Five of our family members spent a week on Peaks Island at this home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Walking distance to the ferry, grocery store, and all dining. We especially enjoyed the large kitchen/dining area for family dining in and card playing. Hardwood floors throughout was a plus. The deck was great for morning coffee, reading, and sun. A quiet and friendly group of neighbors during our stay.

Absolutely Amazing and So Relaxing

5 of 5
Where do we begin? Bruce and I ( and our two Old English Sheepdogs) found a little piece of heaven on Willard Beach. We absolutely LOVED The Birdhouse and felt at home and totally relaxed the moment we walked through the door. We are originally from Maine and this was the first time we opted to rent a place of our own for the Holidays instead of staying with family. Our family enjoyed it as much as we did. Susan and Tony have made their beach cottage very comfortable and we found everything we needed, especially when it came to my making my traditional Christmas Pork Pies and all my Christmas Cookies. When they say well equipped kitchen, they mean well equipped kitchen, right down to pie plates, rolling pin and pastry blender! Oh - and sharp knives :) ( I am a fanatic over having sharp knives in a kitchen) Our pups thoroughly enjoyed the fenced in yard and the back deck as well as walks on the beach. I enjoyed getting up every morning and heading out to the point to experience some of the most spectacular sunrises. We made several trips to the Old Port in Portland, but also stayed close by to enjoy some of the local food. We ate at Ottos and had some crazy combination pizzas with friends. We also had a fabulous dinner and David's 388. Of course a visit to the area isn't complete unless you visit Scratch Bakery ( bagels and english muffins) and the Cookie Jar for chocolate coconut donuts! We also had a great lunch at Joe's Boathouse. Oh ya and the pups got to visit The Whole Dog Market. The Cottage was clean when we arrived and is well maintained. We enjoyed the gas "fireplace" on some very chilly nights. I will definitely rent The Birdhouse again and would highly recommend it to friends and family. Great job Susan and Tony along with Nancy ( caretaker) for making our Christmas and New Years a very memorable one and one that I am sure we will talk about for years to come! A quintessential Maine cottage

5 of 5
We have been staying at the Washburn Cottage for many years now. We look forward to our stay all year long, as it is the highlight of every summer for our family. Some of the best parts of our stay have been sunsets seen from the back porch, the access to the shoreline where we can walk along the water, the rustic, cottage feel of the Washburn and the central location to everything the island has to offer. We really enjoy visiting the restaurants in the immediate area, such as The Cribstone restaurant, BIGS and the Saltwater Cafe, along with many other restaurants in the surrounding Harpswell area. We have found many hiking and walking trails in the area, one of our favorites being Mitchell Field on Harpswell. But most of all, we just love being able to sit on the back porch at the cottage and relax without feeling like we have to go anywhere. In conclusion, we absolutely LOVE the Washburn Cottage and look forward to returning for many summers to come.
