Blended Family Vacation

5 of 5
Our family tries to vacation together every few years and this year was an exceptional challenge with the addition of four children ages 3 and under and extended family members who wanted to join in the fun. Looking for a place to accommodated 20 family members from ages 85 to 1 was daunting. McGee Island was the jewel that we were looking for. The owners were wonderful to work with and answered our many questions cheerfully and promptly. On McGee, there was something to do for all ages. Daytime was full of island adventures and the evenings were spent in the Main House living room where we enjoyed drinking wine, laughing, deep conversation and for some, a late nite ping pong game on the huge porch! One rainy day, in the middle of our week, was a surprisingly welcomed, relaxing day spent in front of a comfy fire. Joe, the caretaker of McGee, was always accomodating especially since it seemed that we always had someone coming or going from the island. He was helpful, always available but never intrusive. If you are looking for a place to relax, reconnect and have a great time on an era gone by family vacation this is the right spot!! McGee Island is for you!

Absolutely fantastic!

5 of 5
Since this was our first experience of Maine we were not sure what to expect. However, it was everything we had ever imagined and more. The house was extremely comfortable. We were a little concerned at having only one full bath for six people, but it went amazingly smooth and we would have no hesitation to stay again. The house was incredibly well equipped and the cutting garden was the icing on the cake. We had fresh flowers every day. The views of the harbor were unbelievable and the boat house made a perfect place to end each day. Our only regret was not having more time to experience the place, but rest assured, we will most definitely return.

Wonderful house in beautiful Port Clyde

5 of 5
We stayed at the Port Clyde Cottage this past July and had a fantastic time. Karan and Gerry are excellent hosts and were on hand to answer questions and recommend restaurants, fishing spots, and fun activities. We loved being in the village of Port Clyde where we could walk to the ice-cream shop, the general store and the lobster pound. There is also the cutest bar located in a red barn, accessible by walking across the back lawn, and open from 4:00-8:00 Thursday through Sunday. It was a perfect spot to grab a drink after a day of hiking on Monhegan or swimming at Drift Inn Beach. Port Clyde is definitely a hidden gem! The house is centrally located in the village with beautiful views from the back deck and docks. The house is so livable! There are plenty of pots, pans, dishes, games, toys and anything else you could need to make you feel at home. We had great ping pong tournaments in the game room and lobster boils on the dock. We hated to leave and can't wait to go back!
