Perfect Family Vacation

5 of 5
We are repeat renters- my family has rented Rockledge Cottage six times. This cottage is located on the best spot of the nicest beach (in our opinion) in Maine. You are able to see the ocean and hear the waves from virtually any room in the cottage. It is also very private. The cottage has a history, and the layout is unusual because it has been built onto the side of a rock. The kids love their bedrooms (one room has a reading nook with its own window and ladder!); another room sits on the top of the cottage with panoramic views on all four sides and has its own washroom. The kitchen was recently renovated and is very functional and charming. Cell phones and wifi always work. The owner has really thought of everything. At low tide you can usually walk to two islands just offshore. The beach is very long and never crowded. Percy's and Spinney's are a pleasant walk away through the woods (or along the beach) and there are lots of things to do in the immediate area - hiking, restaurants, shopping in Freeport, exploring Bath, Portland and the little towns up the coast. My family is always sad to leave Rockledge. The kids always ask to come back, despite the long drive from Toronto.

Beautiful and relaxing

4 of 5
This home is gorgeous, with stunning views. The newer addition is divine. The "old" part is really cool as it's the original home and has all the charm and character of an original Maine beach cottage. The owners were wonderful and pleasant. Not much to do in the area when it's not summer (we went in fall), but we enjoyed wonderful long walks on the beach and the surrounding area and a few trips to Freeport and L.L. Bean. Relaxing vacation!

Quiet and Peaceful

5 of 5
The title says it all. Quiet and peaceful. The cottage has been totally remodeled but the old charm remains. It is located in the woods right on Atkins Bay. We could not see our neighbors and we could not hear the cars on Popham Rd. A short drive to Bath for shopping and lots of nice eateries. The cottage comes well stocked. The heated floors in the bathroom is a nice touch. The cottage has a pass to go to any of Maine's State Parks. We went to Popham beach which is only a minute drive from the cottage. The beach has to be one of the prettiest beaches we ever saw. The cottage also has two ocean Kayaks. They were a lot of fun paddling on the bay during the high tides. We went out almost everyday and we were the only ones on the water. The porch, ah the porch. Awesome, screened with skylights. The hammock, the bed and dinning table set. We had most of our meals on the porch. If you are looking for privacy, peace and quiet, I think this is the place. We really had a great relaxing week.
