Charming is charming!

5 of 5
My husband and I thoroughly enjoy Charming and have been staying here for the past few years. This cottage is nestled along the mouth of the Kennebec River which spills into the open ocean. The cottage offers a laid back atmosphere which is extremely relaxing with fantastic views ranging from islands to lighthouses - and of course the ocean. You can spend your time watching the waves from the porch, watching a few seals swim by or stroll to the beach. Popham Beach is known for its fantastic sprawling beach which is perfect for long walks and jogging. My husband prefers fishing along the river/ocean as well as golfing at a local club about 15 minutes away. Kayaking also offers an additional adventure. You can hire a guide and rent locally. The cottage is captivating with a rustic Maine history and additional fun fact that a famous movie was filmed here. The owners are wonderful and take very good care of the property. The house is very clean and comfortable. It's all about the beach, and enjoying a kicked back no stress vacation. Don’t forget to take in the night air and the incredible views of the stars. The views alone are worth a 5 star rating.

Perfect Family Vacation

5 of 5
We are repeat renters- my family has rented Rockledge Cottage six times. This cottage is located on the best spot of the nicest beach (in our opinion) in Maine. You are able to see the ocean and hear the waves from virtually any room in the cottage. It is also very private. The cottage has a history, and the layout is unusual because it has been built onto the side of a rock. The kids love their bedrooms (one room has a reading nook with its own window and ladder!); another room sits on the top of the cottage with panoramic views on all four sides and has its own washroom. The kitchen was recently renovated and is very functional and charming. Cell phones and wifi always work. The owner has really thought of everything. At low tide you can usually walk to two islands just offshore. The beach is very long and never crowded. Percy's and Spinney's are a pleasant walk away through the woods (or along the beach) and there are lots of things to do in the immediate area - hiking, restaurants, shopping in Freeport, exploring Bath, Portland and the little towns up the coast. My family is always sad to leave Rockledge. The kids always ask to come back, despite the long drive from Toronto.

Beautiful and relaxing

4 of 5
This home is gorgeous, with stunning views. The newer addition is divine. The "old" part is really cool as it's the original home and has all the charm and character of an original Maine beach cottage. The owners were wonderful and pleasant. Not much to do in the area when it's not summer (we went in fall), but we enjoyed wonderful long walks on the beach and the surrounding area and a few trips to Freeport and L.L. Bean. Relaxing vacation!
