Fantastic Gem aka "The Maine House."

5 of 5
Wow!! From the moment we walked in, our family was in heaven. My wife, son (3) and I had been to Boothbay a couple years back and fell in love with the area. We decided to explore the Pemaquid area in more depth this summer. The pictures do not do this home base justice. When we walked in and saw the view, we knew we had found our new vacation "home." Spacious and open, the kitchen well equipped, and that fireplace!! We knew we'd be doing some cooking (I'm a chef) and grilling with that view and with the proper equipment in the kitchen, we had everything we needed. Even with all our travels to the local lobster pounds, forts, nature preserves and beaches, relaxing in the comfy living room, with a fire going on the cool nights and watching the sunset was easily the family favorite. Our three year old son was even requesting "Maine House", when tiring from the days activities. He enjoyed the tidal waters and just running in the open house and the yard. The description of the property is on the dot. The house itself is clean, beautiful, inside and out, to accompany the gorgeous views. As stated, the kitchen is well supplied and the open concept is very comfortable and spacious. The booklet that Marilyn and John have written on the local activities is very helpful. Though we did not get to meet Marilyn, we had a couple of phone chats with her while there, one just checking in on the first night and another offering to bring over some warm cookies on our last. Unfortunately we were enjoying one last dinner at Round Pond Lobster Pound and missed out on the cookies! Other area attractions we enjoyed were the various nature preserves, the "castles" (Fort William Henry and Fort Edgecomb are castles according to our son), Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, or just finding little outlets to the ocean while driving the coast. Shopping for groceries at Reilly's was convenient as they are very friendly and have everything you could need. We ate at Round Pond Lobster Co Op three times and met great people every time. The price there is fantastic, with good service and the best steamers. So, in summary, this place is great. Great for children. Great for loving the Maine Coast, sunsets over the harbor, and just calm, beautiful vacations, not too far from the action. We cannot wait to return year after year, as we have found our "Maine House" as well. Our son, has been requesting a return since our departure. Just eleven months to wait!

A true serenity getaway!

5 of 5
This was my fourth trip to 4 Stars. This is our favorite place to vacation. Everything in the cabin is so clean and well coordinated. We had lovely walks on the beach and the Pemaquid Trail, and relaxing games of Gin Rummy on the handmade birch kitchen table. The owner thought of everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable, even a nice selection of movies to watch.
