What a wonderful find this was. Nancy was there to greet us (with a pie warming in the oven) and show us around the house and the property. The house is even better than the pictures show, especially with the recent addition of a wrap-around deck on the main floor.
The house itself was in wonderful condition, and easily fit our 10 adults (one person did have to sleep on the pull-out sofa on the second floor, but we knew that going in). The dining area has a very large table that accommodated our whole group, plus a few guests throughout the week. The kitchen was easy to work in and had all of the basic equipment needed to cook for a large party.
The beds were comfortable, and the ceiling fans throughout the house kept everyone cool. Two bathrooms is a must with such a large group, and the washer and dryer on the main floor was a definite plus.
The dock with the canoes and rowboat was a short walk. There were plenty of canoes and lifejackets provided, and Panther Pond was a nice place to paddle. We tried some fishing, too, but weren't all that successful. We did not try rowboat.
The walk to the beach was about 5 minutes through the woods. The path is well marked and easy enough, though it was a little soft with all the rain they'd had recently. Their beach was under water, but the adjoining sand beach, which is owned by Nancy's cousin (who was super friendly, and even allowed us to take refuge from a passing thunderstorm in her house), was available to us and was wonderful.
There were a number of Adirondack chairs on the beach for sitting and chatting, some inner tubes for floating in the water, and a fire pit for grilling if we were so inclined. The water was very clear and a perfect temperature for swimming. It's also pretty shallow for a long way out, so it should be safe for younger kids to play in the water, too.
I have nothing but good things to say about the house, the property, and the owner. We've already asked when we can make a reservation for next year!
