Perfect spot for a quiet week near the beautiful Maine Coast

5 of 5
My husband and I stayed for a week in early September for a relaxing get-away to celebrate my 60th birthday. We found the apartment tidy and well equipped. We enjoyed the views from the deck, taking walks in the area down by the water and found several places to eat locally. Easy drive to hiking and sightseeing. Cell service was spotty, but TV reception was good. Can't miss Monday Night Football! thanks for a great week on the mid Maine coast!

Peaceful quiet cottage a great place to get away

5 of 5
This was my first time renting a vacation home, I wanted to get away and find a place that was secluded and quiet. This fit the bill. Its located on a wooded lot not far from neighbors, but the trees make it feel like nobody else is around. Beautiful views of the cove. The house is well kept and pleasantly decorated. Certainly one could be happy just relaxing around the house, plenty of decks give you room to just sit outside and watch the boats. A firepit down near the water is a great place to sit around roasting marshmallows and watching the stars. The floating dock came in very handy, as I had booked a fishing charter and they were able to pick us up and drop us off right at our dock, our captain had not yet seen any blues this summer, but the stripers were practically jumping in to the boat. http://bigbites.us/ are actually based just across the cove. Although the house feels like its away from it all, it is very convenient to nearby attractions. Brunswick, Bath, Freeport, Boothbay Harbor, Portland are all short easy drives. We went candlepin bowling at in Brunswick http://bowling-bowl.com/ which was a lot of fun. I had no problems at the house, it was clean and well maintained. Sure you could find issues if you wanted to .... but who wants to spend their vacation looking for problems..... I don't know if I'll be back in Maine again ..... but if I am, this is where I want to stay.

Another Wonderful Stay

5 of 5
I enjoyed my stay in Cottage Aerie so much this summer that I came back to stay at the Ship Captain's Home, owned by the same family. I thoroughly enjoyed my two and a half weeks here as well and would highly recommend it as a perfect place for writers. I was here in early September when it was quieter on the island than in the summer. Every morning I would write and then go out for seafood, either at Morse's Cribstone Grill, Estes Lobster House or Cooke's Restaurant. Sometimes I brought hard copies of my writing to Morse's and did revisions on the dock in the afternoon sun. It was great! I also recommend buying great seafood at Allen's Seafood for cooking at home. I found the Captain's house to be well maintained and outfitted for cooking. Once again, Peter, the owner was a great host and always available for recommendations.
