Scenic R&R

5 of 5
We met my cousin from Rhode Island here. We all three had a comfortable place to sleep, eat, and just relax. The views from the house were very Maine-y. We used the cottage as a base for near-by explorations and 1-day car trips. It was a convenient location to do such. The kitchen was well-equipped and easy to cook in. We enjoyed spending late afternoons on the deck sipping wine and listening to the quiet. We will definitely return here at a future date.

Delightful and charming!

5 of 5
We had a wonderful time at the Lookout and were delighted with the house and it's warm, knotty wood rooms. My teens were especially happy to have the attic "bunk house" to themselves and the grownups enjoyed the other bedrooms and their views of the water. Fishing was a major activity and we visited a number of places in Harpswell, Bailey's and Orrs island including Lands' End, the Giant Steps, and the docks near the Mitchell Bandstand (the latter proved to be the best location). One night we ate at Estes Lobster Places, loving the lobster mac and cheese. Another night we bought lobster and crab from Quahog Lobster and enjoyed a dinner at the picnic table. It was great to have an equipped kitchen and on-site laundry. One day we enjoyed a game of croquet on the lawn. Lovely, quiet neighborhood with easy access to The Vegetable Corner, local convenience store and Wine and cheese shop. What more could you want?

Another Wonderful Stay

5 of 5
I enjoyed my stay in Cottage Aerie so much this summer that I came back to stay at the Ship Captain's Home, owned by the same family. I thoroughly enjoyed my two and a half weeks here as well and would highly recommend it as a perfect place for writers. I was here in early September when it was quieter on the island than in the summer. Every morning I would write and then go out for seafood, either at Morse's Cribstone Grill, Estes Lobster House or Cooke's Restaurant. Sometimes I brought hard copies of my writing to Morse's and did revisions on the dock in the afternoon sun. It was great! I also recommend buying great seafood at Allen's Seafood for cooking at home. I found the Captain's house to be well maintained and outfitted for cooking. Once again, Peter, the owner was a great host and always available for recommendations.
