A perfect Maine vacation

5 of 5
As we drove down Pemiquid Trails to the Laughing Gull cottage we admired the beautiful homes along the ocean and the quiet of the street. And then we came to the cottage, we could tell it was a log cabin built many years ago and situated on a perfect piece of property. The windows had window boxes with beautiful yellow and blue wildflowers. The property was extremely well manicured, and the pine trees in the front on the ocean side couldn’t have been more picturesque. Two white picket chairs sitting there, just waiting for us to come out with a good glass of wine and watch the Sun set. Once we entered the cabins, we immediately left all the stress at the door; we felt like we were home. The cabin was beautiful, well-appointed and so peaceful. Every amenity was thought of and we needed to bring nothing but our clothes, books and food. The cabin was immaculately clean and smelled fresh. The kitchen had every cooking utensil you would need, even Lobster plates and a lobster pot! Plenty of dishes, silverware even a poaching pan for eggs. We found additional treats, such as, the bathroom had a heater, the bed had a mattress warmer and propane heater that could heat the whole house. The small barn out back had more than enough fire wood to satisfy the beautiful ocean stone fireplace, it was huge and burned beautiful fires – what a treat. Plenty of activities to do within a close ride, lot of trials, and sites to see, good restaurants. Additionally two well-maintained bikes were in the barn for our use. The Host was also in residence and came over to introduce himself and ask if we needed anything to give him a call. It is a good feeling to have the owner close by – just in case. We are so pleased with finding the Laughing Gull that we have booked two weeks next year. Kathie and Jonathan

Comfy, Relaxing Cottage

5 of 5
What a wonderful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life! We stayed for 5 nights as we attended a wedding at the lighthouse on Friday. Janet could not have been more helpful with keeping in contact, a beautiful card, information on Maine waiting on the table. The cottage was a delight with a screened in porch, some food in the fridge, and a short walk to the shore. Did I mention a screened in porch!! : )Wedding lobster bake at a co-op, New Harbor for a dinner, North Country Wind Bells on Rt. 32, Freeport for LLBean, and Damariscotta with a pirate festival on Saturday lent for an enjoyable exploration of the area. A splendid place to unwind!

We love this cottage!

5 of 5
My husband, well behaved dog and I have been staying at this cottage for a week every year, since 2004. Rog and Dottie have created a "home away"--the cottage suits us perfectly. We love the cottage's: cleanliness, screened in porch, cheerful color scheme, the short walk to the beach, the wonderful restaurants nearby, beautiful landscaping, wireless access, washer and dryer, the charm/history of the cottage... and much more! Rog and Dottie, the "landlords," have become friends. They are gracious hosts, always available to make sure we are having a great time. Our only regret has been that we've stayed just one week, not two. We hope to remedy that problem in the year ahead! We offer our enthusiastic recommendation for the "Charming Vintage Maine Cottage."
