My husband and I rented this property for the month of August in 2011. It's a beautiful place, secluded but just a short drive to town. It sits high above Monson Pond on solid rock (slate, granite) and the views are breathtaking, especially sunsets (that's Buck Hill, I think, off to the west). The cabin doesn't lack for a thing. The kitchen is small, but I cooked full meals in it without any trouble. Bathrooms-perfectly rustic and clean. The master bedroom is HUGE and beautifully furnished, as were all the rooms. You fall asleep there listening to the loons calling down on the water. The stairs down to the water are steep (coming back up)...but wait till you see it down at the water's edge! There's just too much to tell in such limited space.
Now, there's no TV...you should know that ahead of time. Cell phone service, believe it or not, DOES exist around the pond (it was not available in town), and I was sometimes able to stream music on my IPad. But there's radio, and the Maine NPR (?) station is really good. Bring your own CD player (or maybe request one?). My only suggestion for the owners would be to add more comfortable seating; I grew up in Monson, so we had lots of family and old friends visiting. People were stealing each others' seats:) What a great time - thank you Bill and Marie!
