Awesome House!! Great location!!

5 of 5
We would just like to say that this was probably one of the nicest places we've ever stayed in. We wanted a waterfront property with a convenient location to see the mid coast region, and what we got was not only a perfect location, but an absolutely gorgeous and very comfortable home. The pictures don't lie. In fact it is better than the pictures on the listing. The views made it hard to leave for the day, but loons would welcome us home every evening as we were fishing off the dock. Accessibility was important to us, and it was exactly as described. The owners were incredibly accommodating without being intrusive. Everything in the place was new. We loved it and will be back!

The Cottage on the Crest

5 of 5
The cottage on the crest is quaint and peaceful. We were greeted by the glow of a lamp in a seaward window, a sailors welcome home. Our thoughtful host and hostess surprise us with a gift basket of fresh fruit with artisan bread , local eggs, butter and milk. What a wonderful way to start our relaxing journey. The cottage is pristine . Luxurious linens and comfy beds. All the comforts of home plus games , books and television for entertainment though we chose to explore the island. We discovered the private beach where the unspoken words are" leave only footprints". The walk through the fairy woodland is relaxing. Islanders are friendly - there were stories of the history in the area, welcome waves as we strolled by and bowls of water left out for thirsty pets. A short walk to McLoon's provided us with fresh crab and lobster. It is a gathering place for folks to enjoy dock side feasts. (And one evening a display of a double rainbow during a brief shower!) The smell of the ocean, the sounds of the marina and endless stars that touch the sea------ THIS is the essence of the Crested Cottage. We HIGHLY recommend you stay here and we wish to THANK our host and hostess for sharing this lovely cottage with us. DJ and Scott, Ellington,CT

Wonderful, real experience

5 of 5
This great, comfortable house in walking distance of charming village was perfect for our family of four. Dock with ferry to Monheghan Island is right there, along with the Dip Net restaurant and the General Store, which has a great breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to sit in the living room together and play ping pong in the game room. Owners were very good in communication and making us feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend this for a real Maine experience!
