We stayed at the FInch Camp for almost a week in the middle of August. Unlike other rustic cabins we have stayed at, this one was clean, spacious, and provided all of the comforts of home, while retaining rustic charm. The kitchen and living room are large and comfortable. A perfect place to cook a quiet meal and relax. However, the best thing about the camp is the location. We spent tons of time at Lake Hebron (right next to the camp). Quiet and serene. Every night you can hear the loons calling. On clear nights you can see the milky way!
Monson is a sleepy little town that is the start of 100-mile Wilderness of the Appalachian Trail. Definitely worth checking out if you like to hike. There are some basic amenities in town, as well as a few grocery stores close by. In addition, it is about 20 minutes away from Moosehead Lake and the town of Greenville. A little touristy, but the beauty of this lake makes up for it. Lily Bay and Peaks-Kenney State Parks are close by and breathtaking.
Dave (the owner) and the local caretaker are really great. You won't be disappointed if you stay here, and I suggest you do! We'll be back!
