Epic Ice Fishing!

5 of 5
Camp Samuel is the epitome of luxury. Our family has bounced all over Maine for fifteen years. Sometimes we rough it, staying at more traditional camps and lodges. We decided to do it a bit different this year and aim for comfort. Conveniently located and yet secluded. Within reasonable distance of authentic, rural Maine night life. The people of the surrounding communities are some of kindest I've ever met. Our family was a bit intimidated by some of the technology at first but concierge Mike was very helpful and even made more than one house call to assist with anything from specific oven control, to explaining the state of the art sound system. We even caught some fish. A few 16' trout and a 5 lb small mouth!

Great cabin!

5 of 5
We had great time snowmobiling right from the cabin! Plenty of room for our two families...kids loved watching and feeding the many deer! Property management was a joy to work with...would stay again! Best part was the heated HUGE mudroom for all our boots, snowpants and other gear!

We can't wait to come back!

5 of 5
We spent two weeks at Martin’s house this past August. We loved our stay there and are hard pressed to offer many suggestions for improvements. The bedrooms are good-sized; the master bedroom has a sitting room with a television and a porch. The beds are of good quality and comfortable. The kitchen is very nicely equipped. There is a large refrigerator and range. The cabinets are outfitted with just about anything you might require. It even has a Kitchenaid mixer, but none of our meals were ambitious enough to put it to use. The main floor has a large living room adjacent to the kitchen and a porch. There is a gas grill on the porch we used quite a bit. The one day it rained during our stay happened to be the Sunday afternoon when we had several cousins coming to visit. There were plenty of places to sit both outside and inside and we had no problem entertaining everyone comfortably despite the weather. It was so cool the time we were there that we never did jump in the pool. We did take advantage of the hot tub on several evenings – it worked well and the little structure was even equipped with a radio so we could pipe in WERU while we enjoyed soaking. Our children are grown up, but the basement would have been a great hit with the games and equipment available down there. The greatest aspect was the peace and quiet afforded by this location. There is plenty of wildlife to see (particularly early in the morning). The wi-fi hotspot is apparently over in Martin’s other house, so reception is a bit spotty depending upon where you are in the house, but the whole point is to get away, right? The caretaker Don was very helpful and friendly. We even got to chat with Martin’s brother during a visit from Switzerland – a very interesting chap. Bottom line, one can rent this wonderful place for less than the cost of two cheap hotel rooms in town where you will suffer with indifferent neighbors blasting their televisions and slamming doors at all hours. I cannot wait until our next stay here! Thanks again Martin for the care you have put in to this property and the reasonable rate. We’ve rented other places on Pushaw Lake through Homeaway and there is no comparison – your rental is first class and spacious.
