Peaceful, Soulful Escape

5 of 5
Once in a great while you visit a place that just speaks to your soul. This was one of those places for me. The views from the family room and the master bedroom are truly breathtaking: the seascape, the stars at night, the sunrise in the morning - all spectacular. We had this beautiful eerie fog that settled in on one of our fall days that made us feel like we were in a setting apart from the rest of the world, beautiful solitude. Most days we stayed at Prowhouse, sat out on the picnic table at the cliff's ledge for lunch one day, went hiking on the beautiful trails on the property, drank coffee on the deck at sunrise, and wine on the deck at the days end. So relaxing. A wide variety of books are available at Prowhouse, and though I brought my own, I was taken with many of the writings on Maine, so much so that I bought one of them on my kindle as we left, so I could finish reading the book before we got home: How to Catch a Lobster in Downeast Maine, a story not only about a way of life in Maine, but I think a story that shares much of how we pass things on through the generations. So much of this area will stay with us. There were a couple of days we ventured out. We bought lobster at the local harbor, took photographs of the fabulous foliage, the lobster boats, and more. And we went hiking on the trail that leads to the Yurts (as described in the detailed binder of things to do at Prowhouse) on our way out of town. As other reviewers note, the aesthetics of this house are amazing, from the beautiful pieces of furniture, to the simple art on the walls, it "feels" good. And Rich is an amazing host. Thank you for sharing your beautiful get away. I hope we return some day.

We had a great week. Clean, warm, and cozy and right on the ocean. Being off the grid was an added bonus. The caretaker takes great care of the property and explained everything when we arrived. We definitely will make it an annual event.

Living in an antique collector's storage!

This was a wonderful two weeks. You actually live in an antique collection while vacationing. Views were fantastic and access to many other areas of interest were extra special. Listing accurately depicts the property. It was clean and the owner provide personal service to ensure things were as expected. I would recommend this property for couples. Helen's is a great place to eat. Would recommend a trip to Jaspers Beach and Roque Bluff.
