Nature Lovers' Paradise

5 of 5
As the other reviewers stated, the photos do not do this property justice. House was immaculate and had everyt hing you need. It's a perfect spot if you want to relax. Cell phone service not great...but didn't mind as we were there to get away. Wi-Fi in the house worked fine. The beach was so close and had a lot to offer. Get up early and walk down to the beach for sunrise....amazing. A birder's paradise...Bald Eagles flying by, Singing Warblers and Sparrows, nesting Cedar Waxwings and Cliff Swallows...so cool. We found downtown Lubec very charming, which is a short drive. Northern Tides Art Gallery & Gift Shop downtown has a really nice selection of high quality locally made items. Check out the Saturday a.m. Farmer's market in Lubec. Bring your passport and visit Campobello Island just over the bridge. It was a perfect vacation spot and can't wait to go back.

Very relaxing

4 of 5
This house is exactly as described, except the chairs on the deck have been replaced with a table and chairs. We rented this house for a week in July when the temps were close to 100 degrees everywhere else, but were comfortable at Rocky Cove. Jody offered a fan, but didn't really need it (the house isn't air conditioned). Because this house is on a cove and away from the town, it is really quiet. There are close neighbors, but you can't see or hear them. Even when you climb down to the shale beach, you still have a sense of privacy. This isn't a swimming beach, but you wouldn't want to--the water is cold!! Lots of sea glass. When we arrived at the house, we found it very clean and there is a notebook with information about the area. This is a great area for lobster--got it cooked and brought it back to the house for $6.70 a lb and uncooked for $4.50 lb. We ate gooood!! The town is small, some shops, but not swarming with tourists, Everyone we met was very friendly. Went across to Campobello Island and went whale watching. There are a few companies that take people out, we chose Island Cruising and they were great, would reccomend highly. Overall, we would recommend Rocky Cove if you are looking for a quiet getaway. The only real negative to the house is that the living room furniture is not very comfortable and should be replaced, that's why I gave it a good, not excellent rating. It was reallly easy to work with the property manager and our deposit was promptly returned.

Perfect Maine Cottage

5 of 5
My husband and I recently returned from spending a week with four of our friends at Birch Point Cottage. This was perfect--exactly what we had hoped for when we thought of going to Maine. Andy was a great help. He and Lynn obviously love their Maine home--it feels like a home, not a typical rental. The cottage is cozy and comfortable and the decks are spacious and have great views,. I loved going down to the beach at all times--we were fascinated by the difference between the high and low tides. My husband and I love to hike, and again Andy was so helpful by marking some of his favorite trails and their descriptions. We loved the trails on Campobello as well as going to the lighthouse there--quite a trek, but well worth it--there were whales swimming right beneath us!. We toured the Roosevelt cottage and grounds, and all of the beaches there. We also loved the East Quoddy Light house and trails there. Reversing Falls is fascinating--make sure to go about an hour before the tides change for the full effect. Have a drink a Annabelle's--the eastern most tavern in the US and talk with the friendly residents. And then, again, thanks to Andy, we went every day to Bayside Chocolates--great homemade chocolates--but, even better, Gene is a lobster fisherman, and we bought fresh lobster and cooked it at the cottage in the great kitchen--what a treat. We ate in every night because it was such a pleasant place to enjoy with our frinends. It was hard to decide whether to go exploring in the area or stay at the cottage and relax. Sitting on the upper deck, two Bald Eages flew right over head. After that, we saw them fly to their nest on the island in front of us every night. Thanks again Andy and Lynn--we couldn't have asked for anything better.
