An absolute joy!

I have been travelling to this area for over 40 years, most recently staying in a variety of homes available for rental. This beautiful home was by far and away the nicest, cleanest, best equipped house we have had the pleasure of renting. From the moment we walked in the door we realized the home was unique. Beautifully decorated, wonderfully and thoroughly equipped, and remarkably situated the home offered all one could want for a Downeast get away.It was a home that you didn't feel like you needed to leave to enjoy the day. We took several long adventures in the provided kayaks, sat on the porch and watched eagles and other shorebirds hunt for their supper. It was so quiet and serene that one could just be peace with their thoughts. The owners are very kind and helpful and excellent communicators. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to any one. It is a rarity in the rental world, a well cared for, spotlessly clean home that is so comfortable you will feel as if it is YOUR home. As for the general area, as I said, it is a place I traveled to as a boy and have brought my family to for the past several years. It is a place that allows you...almost forces you...to slow down a bit. There are so many things to do and see, but all are can and should be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. There are many available places of natural beauty and the opportunities to see eagles, seals, whales, and a host of other birds is something my family enjoyed a great deal. We especially enjoyed a kayak trip deep into Morong cove that we timed so the incoming tide helped push us deep up into the creeks at the head of the cove, and then rode the outgoing tidal currents to get back "home". It was a tiring but wonderful adventure. I feel it is always nice to have places that can stick in your brain and offer comfort when you are having a tough work day. The "seaside sanctuary" has often been in my day dreams since our visit and I look forward to returning next summer.

Lubec Bay Cottage is an awesome place. The sunrise is beautiful from the cottage or the decks. The cottage is very comfortable and decorated with excellent taste. We enjoyed our stay so much we did not want to leave.

Perfect Maine Cottage

5 of 5
My husband and I recently returned from spending a week with four of our friends at Birch Point Cottage. This was perfect--exactly what we had hoped for when we thought of going to Maine. Andy was a great help. He and Lynn obviously love their Maine home--it feels like a home, not a typical rental. The cottage is cozy and comfortable and the decks are spacious and have great views,. I loved going down to the beach at all times--we were fascinated by the difference between the high and low tides. My husband and I love to hike, and again Andy was so helpful by marking some of his favorite trails and their descriptions. We loved the trails on Campobello as well as going to the lighthouse there--quite a trek, but well worth it--there were whales swimming right beneath us!. We toured the Roosevelt cottage and grounds, and all of the beaches there. We also loved the East Quoddy Light house and trails there. Reversing Falls is fascinating--make sure to go about an hour before the tides change for the full effect. Have a drink a Annabelle's--the eastern most tavern in the US and talk with the friendly residents. And then, again, thanks to Andy, we went every day to Bayside Chocolates--great homemade chocolates--but, even better, Gene is a lobster fisherman, and we bought fresh lobster and cooked it at the cottage in the great kitchen--what a treat. We ate in every night because it was such a pleasant place to enjoy with our frinends. It was hard to decide whether to go exploring in the area or stay at the cottage and relax. Sitting on the upper deck, two Bald Eages flew right over head. After that, we saw them fly to their nest on the island in front of us every night. Thanks again Andy and Lynn--we couldn't have asked for anything better.
