Everything we were looking for!

5 of 5
Spent 4 days at the Blue Heron this summer and were not disappointed! We were coming from Montreal, so I was a little nervous about the 5+ hour drive with 4 adults and a 3 year old. Once we got there all our tension just disappeared. We were not disappointed with the cabin - it was just as described and perfect for us. Allison was so generous, leaving us a toddler bed, stroller, booster seat and a big box of Lego. Not having to schlep that stuff with us was a big help! The cabin is rustic, but clean and fully equipped. The beach was sandy and shallow - good for little swimmers. Kayaks were fun to get away for a bit and explore the surroundings. Plenty of relaxing areas, but still not so isolated that you can't meet someone new at the campfire. We shared our s'mores with two nice families from New Jersey. The one day it rained we drove 1 hour and spent the day Portland at the Children's Museum and then headed for lobster at Demillo's. Then we stopped at Freeport outlets on our way back. Everybody had fun despite the torrential rain! Grocery stores are not far, so we didn't have to worry about what was permissible at the border. And wifi helped to locate them. I've already told everyone I know with young kids about this place!

Peaceful and quiet getaway

5 of 5
We stayed here over Labor Day weekend with our dog, and really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was rustic, but well-equipped and clean - exactly as advertised. The owners were very friendly, responsive, and accommodating as well. There was a kayak and canoe available for our use, and a small dock perfect for fishing and swimming (the lake is beautiful!). The neighborhood was very peaceful and quiet, and we enjoyed spending our evenings by the outdoor fire pit. We would highly recommend this cottage.

Lovely family retreat!

5 of 5
This was the perfect house for our summer stay with our two young children! The house is quite spacious and the rooms and decor are simply lovely. The house was well stocked with movies and games and there were many comfy nooks to sit and read and have quiet time. The surrounding land is well manicured and well tended to and my kids enjoyed the endless fun of trying to climb the rope on the tree and sitting in the hammock. We took advantage of swimming at the "lake beach" down the road as well as the canoes that were provided at the dock. Most of our meals were prepared on the grill and we enjoyed dining al fresco on the deck, something we cannot do at home. We would go back in a minute! It was one of our best family vacations ever.
