PERFECT MAINE GETAWAY

5 of 5
This is a spacious, spotless gem of a seaside cottage. My family just spent an awesome week here. It's got all the amenities and is just close enough (and just far enough) to & from the beaten path. The owners were very pleasant and entirely accommodating, and if this review seems at all subdued, it's only because we hope to stay there again and we don't want someone else to book our week before we do! Again, this is a GREAT place to base a summer vacation; you will not be disappointed.

SPACIOUS SPOT FOR FAMILY EXPLORING MOUNT DESERT ISLAND

5 of 5
Had a great time at the Hodgkins' House! It was clean, spacious and comfortable for our family of 3 adults, 2 tweens and a dog. Appreciated the well-stocked kitchen, since we prepped many meals at the house. Also, the pre-packed beach bag with towels and sunscreen was a brilliant touch. When we weren't out and about we spent most of our time on the glassed-in porch or in the huge back yard. For dining can highly recommend the Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound (15 mins from house). If exploring the 'quiet' side of MDI, Thurston's Lobster Pound is a must for lobster rolls. Acadia Park was beautiful but parking at Jordan Pond House was a nightmare, and parking at the summit of Cadillac Mtn. was also challenging. If we were to do it again, would look into taking a shuttle tour around the park (apparently dogs are welcome on shuttles). The highlight of MDI was hiking the Ships Harbor Walk not far from the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. 40 minutes round-trip and stunning coastal scenery.

CHARMING WATERFRONT PROPERTY, BREATHTAKING VIEWS!

5 of 5
This house had it all - beautiful views of the water and Cadillac Mountain from nearly every room, multiple outdoor seating areas, a huge yard, private steps down to the beach, and enough rooms and bathrooms for our large family of 10. The house was well appointed with all of the conveniences of home, we wanted for nothing. The location was great. It felt very private but was still walking distance to Lamoine Beach and Lamoine State Park and within a 30 minute drive to some of our favorite places - Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, and Acadia National Park. As fun as it was to get out and enjoy nearby attractions, our favorite thing to do was eat meals on the outdoor deck and watch the fishing boats and wildlife. I will definitely rent this place again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, spacious retreat in Downeast Maine.
