Beautiful place!

5 of 5
This is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. Went for a quiet weekend with my wife and was highly impressed. Great cabin and great location right on the cove with a wonderful view of Cadillac Mountain from the guest house. Nate is a great owner and this cabin was absolutely spotless!!! Cozy, warm. I highly recommend this place.

Magificent Maine Memories

5 of 5
My husband, his sister, our adult daughter, and I had an absolutely fabulous stay at Laurie & David's property. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a welcome tray of a variety of wonderful Maine goodies such as blueberry cookies, cheese/crackers/ chilled wine, "Wild Maine Blueberry Jam," chocolate covered cranberries, and pancake mix with fixings including maple syrup! There was everything you could possibly need from an abundance of fresh linens, to an abundance of cookware, to an abundance of the most gorgeous sunrises ever. All of their items like the bathroom amenities, cleaning supplies, air fresheners, etc. were all eco-friendly. They even had a very organized system of disposing of food garbage for the compost pile in airtight containers, along with several labeled trash containers for paper, cans, glass, etc. There was a well kept Welcome Notebook with detailed instructions, contact info for reaching them, and a thorough list of things to do in the area. We went hiking in the Acadia National Park and saw the Thunder Hole. The rock filled beaches there are so very different from the ones to which we are accumstomed in Norfolk & Va. Beach. We drove to West Quoddy Head Lighthouse (the most eastern point of Continental U.S.) near Lubec, ME, where we found Tayla, the friendliest waitress at the Fisherman's Wharf Restaurant and had a terrific lobster dinner. We took the 2.5 hour Sea Princess boat cruise out of Northeast Harbor around some of the islands nearby including a short visit on shore at Little Cranberry Island and a trip into & out of the Somes Sound Fjord. While sailing, there were harbor seals, a blue heron, and a plethora of seagulls out for viewing. But at the end of every day, it was such a delight to return to this lovely dwelling and enjoy the relaxation and refreshing it offered. This retreat is HIGHLY recommendation - except that it is entirely too difficult to leave.

Wonderful, quiet, relaxing place

5 of 5
We had a wonderful time. It was a wonderful, secluded, relaxing place. No internet? No problem! Great place to read, sit outside, lay in the hammock, watch the tide go in and out, etc. (You do have quite a tide!) The only problem was that the weather was too good. I love using wood stoves on a cool evening. The stove was there. The wood was there. But the weather was too warm to justify using it. Only one night cooled enough to put on the stove and then I had to open the windows a bit because the wood stove worked so well. Next time we come I want few cooler nights! The cottage was great, well furnished, lots of windows facing the inlet, large deck, nice loft area. Cathy and Rick promptly answered all questions and everything was completely in order with regards to the cottage and grounds. Getting to Bar Harbor, Acadia NP, and Ellsworth was easy. We did the typical (and beautiful) hike around Jordan Pond in Acadia NP and also climbed Mt. Dorr - beautiful scenery but a bit of a challenge. We did the required stop in Bar Harbor, even though we don't spend much time in tourist towns / shops. However, we actually spent more time heading east to the Schoodic peninsula and surrounding area. We really enjoyed the part of Acadia NP that is on the south end of Schoodic peninsula. We did not know that it was there until we read about it in the travel book in the cottage. There was also a very good restaurant called the Fisherman's Inn in Winter Harbor (on Schoodic peninsula). We also liked the Ironbound Restaurant in Hancock. As for recommending this cottage, we highly recommend it to people who like hiking, nature, reading, relaxing, and similar. Those who want night life, shopping, social activities, or similar should probably head to places further SW down the ME coast. Personally, we hope to visit again as this was our third time in ME and our most enjoyable trip of the three.
