THE PERFECT GETAWAY

5 of 5
I have been vacationing at these cabins since they were built - both with family and friends! I will say that whether you have kids in the single digits, or grandparents in their 90s - this is the perfect place for the whole family! It is far enough away from everything that you feel like you are in the wilderness - but close to a grocery store that you can run out quick for a last minute ingredient! The days on China lake are fun - with lots of Boaters / Jetskis / swimmers , riding down to the icecream shop and waving to the lake neighbors on the way but the nights are our favorite part! Big family dinners by the water and campfires that last through the night! This is and always will be our FAVORITE place to get away : ) When you turn off the main road onto the dirt path leading to the water its a certain excitement every year that just cant be explained! The cabins are also clean and comfortable. And for campers like us .. that aren't quite ready to live in just a tent , its perfect to have running water and a full kitchen! I have and will recommend this property to all my friends and family!

VERY SPECIAL PLACE ON REMOTE POND IN RURAL MAINE

4 of 5
Off the grid is no problem in this remote solar powered home. Private can't begin to describe the pond. In the week we were there we saw a total of zero people on the pond... no boats, no people, just loons, osprey, beaver and very large fish (don't use anything less than 12lb test). Star watching was amazing! The property is a lovely wood-walled 2 story cabin powered by a combination of solar panels and home generator, a State of the Art system. No issues no matter what the weather. It does has Dish tv, a phone, wood stove, and a nice deck. The owner is very responsive and the people in the area are very friendly. We recommend the Cambridge Country Store for a unique dining experience. A combination small country store and cafe, the owners are from Tennessee and love to cook. Any meal, any time, they are glad to feed you and your family. The Breakfast Nook is nice but only open on Thur-Sun mornings. The Harmony Country Store was nick-named 'the mall'. They have a little bit of EVERYTHING - from food, to hardware, to animal feed, to hunting/fishing gear to clothing... And if you need a dose of 'urban', Dexter isn't far at all. Of course, the Maine version of 'urban' is remarkably refreshing. This part of Maine is not your usual tourist destination, and what you find is what is simply real life for the residents. No water parks, no mini-golf, no chain restaurants. Its rural, real and quite remarkable. I would recommend this place IF you are looking for a remote, off the grid place where you can fish in solitude on miles and miles of clean Maine waters. Its not the best place for swimming for children from shore as it has been left 'natural', which is one of its charms. We travel every summer for family vacations, and our week at Harmony will certainly be one of the most 'memorable'.

LOVELY PLACE FOR A GREAT FAMILY VACATION

5 of 5
We have been coming to Wit's End for two years now and are eagerly looking forward to our return. Ted and Becky have a beautiful, clean cabin well stocked with books, games, boats and other necessities. Fishing, kayaking, swimming and reading on the dock are our favorite activities. We particularly enjoy listening to the loons. It is an adventure being on an island and it has given us great stories to share! Ted and Becky are always making improvements and work hard to keep up the cabin. They have always been incredibly helpful, and go out of their way to make our visits enjoyable.
