An absolute island treasure off the coast of Maine

4 of 5
We absolutely loved the island. Total total relaxation.. Once on the island we had no desire to go to the mainland until it was time to go.. We did some exploring but everyday we made sure we were at the town beach at some point. We played the board games at night, read, enjoyed our breakfast every morning on the deck. Weather was fabulous. The people were wonderful.. Maine is full of beautiful places and we thank you very much for opening your home and allowing us to be able have a wonderful week with family.. Lot of good memories. The island is an absolute treasure. Thanks again..

Relaxation at its best !

4 of 5
It was hard to return to reality after the most relaxing vacation imaginable. Words cannot express the beauty that we encountered with every visit to the huge porch, overlooking the water. The fresh air rocked us to sleep night after night. Our stay consisted of 3 generations & we felt so fortunate to have the opportunity to reconnect in this magnificant location. The description of the property is exact & the condition was immaculate. I have never rented from an online source & Dick was with me every step of the way. We were provided with every resource for the island, as well as its historical background. This location forces you to sit back & remember what's important in life...good company & the beauty of nature at its best! This was simply a one of a kind vacation that I would recommend to anyone wanting to get away from it all.

Ahhhhh....

5 of 5
The description of Solsidan is accurate, however does not do justice. By entering Solsidan I was reminded of all that was good as a child. A huge porch overlooking the ocean welcomed us, and the sometimes creaky screen door was music to my ears. A cupboard full of board games allowed us to completely forget that TV even existed. The well appointed and clean (including cook-books) kitchen allowed us to create fabulous meals, that we enjoyed ether on the big round table on the porch, or at the cosy nook surrounded by the sea. The walls are full of book for every age and inclination. The book you forgot to bring may be there, and if not, you'll be sure to find another. Sea glass, shells and the smoothest of pebbles from the ocean are a continual reminder of my stay at the welcoming cottage at the end of a point. Not only is this place well maintained, I feel that both the owners and guests have an affection for Solsidan that demands care and respect. There are no restaurants or attractions and this is perhaps the best aspect of the place. Enjoying the company of loved ones is what made our stay here extraordinary.
