                    Great cottage

                    5 of 5
This cottage is great - we loved the location. It was very quiet and relaxing. Clean and full of anything you would need. Beautiful ocean view and easy to kayak out the door (kayaks provided). Would highly recommend it and we'd definitely go back. The seafood restaurant at the end of the street was amazing.

House with all the amenities on the water...

                    5 of 5
This is the second time we have stayed in Bay Vista. When we arrived the house was clean and well stocked with toiletries and the basics for cooking. Everything worked well and it was very comfortable for 5 adults and 2 children. Nice deck over looking the bay with a big gas grill. We would recommend this property highly. Places to eat...Five Islands, The Dolphin, Schoolhouse Café, Erica's, and for dessert Gelato Fiasco in Brunswick. Things to do...Portland Seadogs baseball, a schooner sail out of Portland, hiking, kayaking, and driving around visiting the small towns and lighthouses. There is also a bike ride in Portland of lighthouses which we heard about. And watching the sunset over the islands across the bay.

                    Perfect vacation spot

                    5 of 5
We’re a little reluctant to review this house, because we don’t want our favorite spot to get booked up by other people! But we so appreciate the chance to have a wonderful getaway in such a wonderful place, we have to let others know how great it is. This house is the second we’ve stayed in on the property, and since it is closer to the water, it will now be our preferred location whenever it is available. Not only are you right near the water, you have many large windows with which to enjoy the view, in the living room and the master bedroom, as well as a deck in the front of the house. The interior of the house is stunning, too. The whole place is brand new as of Summer 2013 and gorgeous. The kitchen is beautiful and has given us many ideas for what we’d like to do with our own upcoming kitchen remodel. This is not a spartan rental-cottage kitchen full of odds and ends--it is a lovely, well-crafted room in which you’ll be thrilled to cook. There’s a good-sized dining room, also looking out on the water, and two bedrooms on the main floor (one facing the water and boasting its own balcony). Also on the first floor is a full bath, which is also beautifully updated. There were no shortcuts taken in this house. Upstairs, there’s the aforementioned master bedroom and its many, many windows with views of the water. There’s also a sitting area with a hide-a-bed, and another bathroom. (Though there’s no tub in this one, there is a tub in the downstairs bath.) Again, everything has been completely remodeled and was done beautifully. Outside, there’s plenty of lawn, but the real attraction is of course the water. You get a view across to the cribstone bridge and Cooke’s Lobsterhouse. Walking down the road past just a few houses (or at low tide, along the shore) you can get to Stover’s Point. Do we have any criticisms? It’s hard to think of any! Perhaps that the place is so gorgeous that you make a point of keeping it that pristine, in contrast to the usual vacation rental where you feel like you’re living with yard sale remnants and treat them accordingly? But if you want to spend your vacation in beautiful surroundings inside and out, feeling lucky to be there, this is the place!
