GREAT LOCATION, GREAT RENTAL

5 of 5
We enjoyed two weeks at “The House” this summer and I wanted to give you a review. We just left a few weeks ago actually. We are repeat customers having stayed there 3 years in a row. Another amazing week. We were up in the mornings (about 5am) having coffee to watch the exquisite sunrise over the bay. Coffee in the rocker, bundled up a little in early October, but that's what we like to do. After breakfast, of blueberry pancakes we would usually walk about a mile to the far end of Jellison Cove Road. Its a dead-end so no one was up really ( at 7am )and lots of wildlife to see. During our stay this time we had a plumbing leak under the kitchen sink. I called Judy and before noon the leak was fixed and no damage done. (He said it stemmed from a misstep by another plumber many years ago.) Our day was not ruined. But I was impressed with how quickly he came over. You must treat him well Judy!!!! We always bring our kayaks. Its a kayaker's dream! 50 steps out the back and across the lawn and you launch your boat. Very quiet water too, usually. We just love kayaking here, no muss, nofuss. The beds were great as usual, and plenty of fans which we use, but with the sliders in the master bedroom we seldom use them there. The TV has plenty of channels for evenings, tho I prefer to spend time on the patio. I would say the best quality time at the house is the time spent with coffee and a paper/book or wine on the lawn. It seems to refuel us.....all that solitude and beauty with no pressures. This year was the first time we took a ride with Babe and we really enjoyed it. He was very informative, but with lots of funny stories. The first time we came my husband exclaimed as we prepared to leave “This was the best vacation we ever had!' and we've been returning every year. Toby Leibovitz

We loved this place.

This was the perfect place for our large family. It was clean and spacious. We appreciated the large kitchen with 2 refrigerators and 2 stoves and a table around which we could all fit! I am a gardener, and I loved the landscaping and flowers. We liked the quietness of Hancock Point -- not touristy like many parts of coastal Maine. The beach was very close and our children and grandchildren actually went swimming in the chilly waters of Maine! We liked the library very much -- we are readers. We have a family vacation every 2 years and have been doing this for many years. This home was by far the nicest one we have found. I also appreciated very much the kindness and availability (by phone) of the owners and the availability of the caretaker. It was a very special week for our entire family and we are grateful. Location, Location, Location

It was our utter pleasure to stay in this lovely home. We usually vacation in Bar Harbor and wanted to try something a little quieter and we were not disappointed. We were able to have our morning in Acadia National Park hiking and then come back for a sleepy afternoon and, if we chose to, we could return to Bar Harbor for dinner. Hancock Point is gorgeous and the location of this house cannot be beat. We were right across from the water where a small dock welcomed fishermen daily and we were able to buy fresh fish and lobster right out our front door. Our children loved biking around Hancock Point with the breezes and water on one side and gorgeous homes on the other. Hancock Point is all residential so it is very quite yet we did not have to compromise on elegance and excellent food since the Crocker House Inn is literally around the corner. We strolled to the Inn for a sumptuous dinner just as the sun was setting and walked home with flashlights which was thrilling for our children and for us grownups as well. The home was cozy, yet very roomy with five bedrooms, a great room and an excellent, well stocked kitchen. Though the cottage is a bit rustic every room was well appointed and very clean. The value cannot be better - we had everything we needed for an excellent price. The location was superb, we were able to make it to Bar Harbor for our traditional breakfast in town with no trouble at all. But best of all are the night breezes off the water, the sounds of the bay, the literal whisper of the pines in the night time quiet ... We will definitely come here again, especially when we want a vacation that is quiet but close to it all and for the value, this home is just perfect.
